Cutting stock flares

I'm thinking in about 2 weeks during midterm break from college I'm going to delve into a few projects on my Jeep before it gets cold. Looking for advice on two particular ones,

Cutting the whole flare into a flatty set-up, and cutting the smittybuilt classic src bumper shorter (to frame almost) and welding tabs on them

Just wondering about if anyone has done it, and tips. I'm looking to cut the flares off rounded like flatties but leave the flare as well. Just wondering what i could put around the cut metal side so it doesnt look so small and dinky thin. I added that picture just so you could see what I'm talking about. I'm also probably going to get the grille hoop finished for my stinger and hopefully my bar behind the seats for the front 4 point harnesses and seat bars that run diagonal by the door.

Any ideas, or tips. I want you to be blatant and tell me I'm a jackwagon if its true.

For a thin metal edge take some electical conduet and bend it to fit the edge. The cut a slot for the metal to fit in. Weld and paint. Should give u a nice rounded edge that won't cut or dig into anything

I'd like that link! And that looks just like what I wanna do ParaCAD thanks alot, was it fairly easy and what did you use to cut it?

The DIY fender lift is another option. It will take more work, but not a ton more work. The rear lift is real easy. It took me about a half a day and gives a ton more clearance. The front lift requires a revised intake, and washer fluid bottle. That is my next project so i can stuff 35s in there on a 2" SL, 1" BL.

Thats exactly what I want to do to my yj except without putting the fender flare back on (no tire coverage laws in NYS) How did you find out how much to cut to open up the wheel well?

I did a real similar cut on my DJ... The resulting "flatties" were a saggy floppy mess. I'd recommend the conduit be fabbed as a support more than as dress up, but the "slice and insert" jpatches describes will work as long as you hard mount the ends somehow.
