Today I spent the day in the shop closing in the frame area and strengthening it to hold the tire. Also added tie down hook holders for when and if they're needed. I also put a plate on the bottom for the jack and used uni-strut at the top. Two bolts at the bottom w/wing nuts holding it down.

When I bought the tire carrier hinge kit I also ordered the spare tire mounting plate. After receiving it I realized it was for a Toyota tire carrier.
It's sturdy and I can drill it out I guess, but do you guys have any thoughts of what else to do? Should I pop the original off the TJ and rework it or just redrill what I bought?
