Florida Swamp Buggy Build

So I wanted to build another jeep to take in the woods but I already did that. So with the help of my good friend David we are going to build a Swamp buggy. So for the last 2 weeks I have been buying up parts. I pick up a 1988 dodge power wagon 4x4 running and driving with a 318 EFI torque flight 904 and an NP241 transfer case with the slip yoke eliminator kit already in it, I paid $700 buck for it.

I’m going to run a 1 ton set up so I pick up a GM Corporate 14 Bolt with 410 gears in and a Dana 44. The Dana 44 is for mock up only and im trying to find a Dana 60 front end to match the rear. Paid $400 for the set. The tires I’m going to run are 14.9 x 24 = 49” tall tractor tires paid $1260.00 for the set.

So now to the part on why I’m not building a Jeep. For me to get in and out of the jeep would be next to impossible. Since I’m in a wheelchair I want to have to build something unique. So we are going to build a wheelchair lift off the rear of the buggy. I will post pictures as I go. I think it will take about a year to build and do it right. Any questions or comments feel free to post. Check these photos out of other buggies.

Thanks guys I know that it not a Jeep but this is the Builds Corner and they don’t have a website or forum for this kind of build so I thought you all would like to see it as it goes.

Thanks Again

So we got all the parts that we dont use removed
Tryed to degrease the motor trans and frame worked a little.

Hope you all like the last pic of me and the rims and tires that I will be running

Next we will put the axles under the truck frame.

And build the frame for the deck of the buggy. I will try to post more pictures of the next stage.

Thanks again

Well I got the Chevy Dana 60 with the 410 gears & with bump and grind we got it under the dodge frame and back on some wheels, so it will roll around. I still need to get the top plate made for the passager side. I bought the 3/8" plate need to drill the holes and get the bolts.

We also got the 1 1/4" square steel cut for the deck time to lay it out and burn some metal.

Ill post some pictures as soon as possible

thanks to everyone that is subscribing!!!!!!!!

Well we got the deck done today

All welded top to bottom - front and back

Now we have to lift it up into the air roll the frame under it and weld the upright supports in

after that we will build the railing and the seat base.

Im going to use some jeep seats just want to throw that out there

here's some pictures from today thanks for watching....

What a great build! Wish I had your skills. You have done more on two wheels than most people could do on two legs. My Daughter has some medical issues and shared your build with her, she now understands that a person can do whatever they want to as long as they want to. You are a inspiration to us all.

Alright we got a lot of work done this weekend.

The deck is up in the air and all the supports up and welded in.

The back one's look kinda cool and thats were the wheelchair lift will be. top

The front one still need the steps.

We are going to put so angle iron out to the out side of the deck to keep it all supported.

I bought the railing for the top of the deck and I will be picking up the jeep seats tommorrow.

Drop the transmission of to the tranny guy, he going to freshen it up and make sure everything is ready to rock.

hope you all like the pictures

Now she is taking shape, got all of the supports in and welded

Also the steps up front and the back end was started for the wheel chair lift.

Now we have to fiqure out all the angles for that.

A friend of mine found a radiator out of a Ford F550, we are going to install it the buggy.

Its HUGE, now we have to build the mounts for that and the dual fans shroud for those.

This thing is going to be huge.

Im loveing how its taking shape, heres some pictures.

Sorry about no updates.

I got alot of parts order like the lift parts for the wheelchair lift

All 4 Smittybilt XRC Suspension Seat gray in color.

I have been hunting alot lately so I have not been working on the buggy sorry Guys

I picked up the transmission and transfer case from my tranny guy all fixed now and no leaks.

The stearing wheel is already installed so I need to build the brackets for the seats.

We have been doing alot of planning so I will post some pictures ASAP.

Thanks for watching
