a truss stringthens the entire assemblyi dont have anypics yet of mine google a search for axle trusses and you will see. they are very usefull for mounting things to like link suspentions steering assist rams and are almost a nessesity for swaping anything into a tj other than a factory 30 or 44. as far as yours goes you can swap a 8.8 into a yj in a weekend im not kidding

No, for ram assist you really won't need a truss up front. It's not going to put enough pressure on your tubes to start bending them. Now full hydro is a different story.

Thats why you do like I did and get a torpedo heater and set it right next to where your working. I got my front axle ripped down and the locking collar on my ARB drilled and fixed back up and put all back together in 2 hours. That was after encountering a problem I hadnt expected tooYou need a heater and some motivation and you'll be rollin before ya know it!

just to add....trusses are especially good to add to an 8.8 install b/c the axle tubes are known for twisting in the housing where the welds break loose...the truss will tie both axle tubes and the housing together

i didnt say it was taking hours and days to do, its just that im almost in canada and its so fuggin cold up here and i dont have any heat in garage or even a cement floor in there, when i work on it its only like an hour or so at a time then the hands get cold and i say and stop for the day, what kind of shop do you have and what is the climate like where you did yours

Hi cousins Jeepers from USA !
I live in Amsterdam (The Netherlands).
It is a lot of time that I follow all the nice threads in this wonderful website!
I have a 97 TJ 4.0 and I found a nice 8.8 from a 98 Explorer.
My question is this:
I have the LPG tank under the car in the back of the Dana 35 Axle.
Now there are 95 mm (3.74" 3" 3/4) between the cover and the tank.
Is there enough space for the 8.8?
I've already a 2.5" OME lift and I'm planning to put a 1" Body lift.

Thank you!
