fozzy locker questions

I installed a aussie in the back of my yj now i have spare spider gears.and wanna lock up the front too. I was thinking of using the spider gears from the rear and fozzy locking them and install it in front. I hear the side gears wont fit because of spline count but the other 2 will. Is this true? If so can i fozzy just the 2 and not all 4 and itll still be locked up right?

Take a time-out and think about what you're proposing to do...putting what effectively amounts to a spool in the front axle is an incredibly stupid idea.

Why so? In 2hi the passenger side tire will be disengaged so it can free wheel around corners. Itll only be locked in 4hi or lo which is only used on trail

Some cunstructive critizism would be nice, not just critizism.

Valid point re: axle disconnect. I've been away from YJs long enough to have let that slip my mind

However, if you welded it, it would then mean you'd be spinning your front driveshaft all the time, instead of letting the spider gears absorb the input from the left-front tire by spinning the center stub shaft in reverse. May require a double cardan front shaft to keep the front shaft vibes in 2wd at speed under control, possibly.

And it would leave you with 4wd that was useless except at play.

Personally, if you're hell-bent on locking the front, I'd throw an Aussie or some such lunchbox locker in before I'd weld it, at least it would then be somewhat drivable in 4wd in the real world and away from the off-road playgrounds. The Aussie lockers are cheap as can be.

I second that.
