Frame reinforcement in the tranny skid area

I need to drop my tranny skid plate to install a xnsfer case lowering kit. One of the bolts mounting the skid plate is broken and I don't know what I will run into when I start removing the other bolts. There is some rust between the bottom of the frame rail and skid plate which I will remove and paint while the skid plate is down. I am trying to decide what I can do to strengthen the frame rail in this are with a 3/16 or 1/4 inch run of angle iron slightly longer than the skid plate.

Any ideas or experiences would be most appreciated.

I inititally posted this thread in the yj forum that might have been an incorrect location.

Scabin material on like that really will not do much. Changes are it is not serious, if the frame is bad or thin fix it right.

The "scabin" material was not posted on this site by me. I wouldlike to know how that got on my post.
