I need to drop my tranny skid plate to install a xnsfer case lowering kit. One of the bolts mounting the skid plate is broken and I don't know what I will run into when I start removing the other bolts. There is some rust between the bottom of the frame rail and skid plate which I will remove and paint while the skid plate is down. I am trying to decide what I can do to strengthen the frame rail in this are with a 3/16 or 1/4 inch run of angle iron slightly longer than the skid plate.
Any ideas or experiences would be most appreciated. I inititally posted this thread in the yj forum that might have been an incorrect location. Jeep is '88 wrangler |

Scabin material on like that really will not do much. Changes are it is not serious, if the frame is bad or thin fix it right.
