Don't use Rustoleum truck box liner on a bumper.... It lasted all of 6 months. One chip in it and it fell apart quickly. Sand blasting both bumpers and getting them LineX'd.

That is the mother of ALL bumpers, when all the little bumpers and bumpetts go to school to learn how to be a bumper they hold up a picture of this one and say "Here she is Folks" and they all oooh and aw in disbeleif . How much does it weigh? are you going to have to beef up the front springs to handle the weight?

I don't know if this ? was ever addressed. I don't have any fabbing ability, but I "know some guys" who do. Not good enough that they'll weld me up a front and rear for beer money, but well enough that they'd be considerably cheaper than ordering them from a big name-brand vendor.

From my personal standpoint, I'd say <$150 for that rear (minus a swing out.) Otherwise I can get a guy around here to build one for me for cheaper.

For that specific front, I'd pay between 200-250 with a decent warranty, D-rings, and built-in winch plate. Say maybe another $50 if it included that brush guard.

There's a guy near me who advertises fabbing all kinds of Jeep bumpers for "decent" prices (assuming his quality is as advertised.) I could get the exact set-up I want (front and back) for around 700, and that's fairly pimped out with a swing-out rear, d-rings, hitch mount, winch plate, etc.

I was doing some research for a front bumper for my Tj and found this thread. I just purchased a new welder and wanted to put through the paces and I believe a project like this would do it. I am going to make it similar to this one I will Post picks as it progresses.

I also seen this from a vender and thought I would reply.

To be honest I am sure almost everyone who decides to build and fab their own bumpers do it for three primary reasons. The first is cost savings of course and it plays a major roll. But for me and I am sure a lot of others the next two are almost important and they are enjoyment of working in the garage and the satisfaction/pride of the finished product.

Here is an example of why we build our own. This is a picture of my rear bumper with swing out. Underneath it you'll see link to a site where they sell the exact same bumper for $794.00. I ordered the swing-out hinge and tire mount from the company in the website. Then purchased tubing, my total cost before my labor (which is free to me) was $165. It would be hard for supplier to convince me not to fab it myself.

I like that rear bumper. Who did you order the swing out from? Is it a good solid hinge? I plan to build a rear bumper similiar to that after I finish all my other mods to properly fit 33's.
