before you want to put a 60 in the front do you plan to upgrade the rear as well? The 79 ford dana 60 is around 69.25" wide and 8 lug hubs. You will need something to match the back.

Take the fight out of the swap and four link the front and rear. Find Jeep ZJ front and rear springs and some comp 1000 shocks, extended brake lines, etc... I would not fight pinion angles with leaf springs. If I had it to do over mine would be linked all around. Go to ballisticfabrication.com and check out some of the brackets, heims joints and stuff they sell for swaps.

im sorry guys i left it a lil vague....i have the front and rears. im gonna use leaf spring over coils because im actually stretching the jeep a bit lol. soo as far as pinion angle im not worried i can lenghten or shortin the new mounts i make in order to to compensate.

i want all of use to be on the same page here, i have been welding and fabricating loweriders and minitrucks since i was 16 and a career welder since 19, im 24 now. i have built plenty of chassis but im no pro, im just tryin to get some info on what i should order before i go on with this swap orrr what i should be on the look out for. idk why i didnt start buildin jeeps and off road trucks sooner....its way more fun.

I got my new spring and shackle hangers off discountjeepparts.com. They sell some great parts from warrior products and ok off road, pretty much anything you'll need. The hangers are 0.25" thick and very heavy duty. How far do you plan to stretch yours? Mine is currently 10" back with the stock axles.

Go forward also. Getting those tires out front will have some advantages.

yea those jeeps are def badass.

you guys know anything about the gm 10 bolt out of the old military m1009 and m1008 trucks? a friend of a friend has a set with lockers and 5.10 gears in them, he's willing to give me them in trade for welding in his roll cage.
good deal or not worth it for my jeep?

10 bolts are ok.. There is some money to be saved if its got true lockers and not welded front and rear. You are still looking at c-clip axles. If they break you will loose a wheel. 12 Bolt are good axles also. Most Military running gear are going to be GM 14 Bolt. Make sure he has 14 Bolts over the 10 bolts. Also might want to see if the front is a left or right hand drop. If you use the stock np231 t-case, you will need a front end from a Ford because they are a driver side drop. Hope it helps. Good Luck

your going to want to match gears, clean them up, new hard brake lines, new soft brake lines, new brakes front and rear, possible high steering arms and crossover steering setup, spring perches, shock mounts, shocks, new wheels, new hubs, new drive shafts, new fluids, new seals (master install kit for gears has everything). i think should cover you.

Sounds like a good combo. Good luck with your build. Lets see some pictures when you get it going.
