Unhappy JD2 Tube Bender

I'm a bit confused with this. Let me see, if you buy the tube bender which is about $300.00 then I have to buy DIES??? Now the DIES go from 1/2" to 2" in increments of 1/8". Another thing you have to consider is the wall thickness, right?. So if you're going to do something with 2" steel tubing the DIE is $345.00 ? If you're using 1" tubing the DIE is @ $175.00-$200.00?. That means you have to expend more on the DIE's than the machine itself?. Please someone can explain or this is the way.
Thanks

the bender is just a big wratchet the dies are what do all the work its a 2 piece set for each one.when you get them you see why their so much, solid heavy and make really nice bends. I agree it does hurt I have 1 3/4 ,1 1/2 and 1" and its a lot of money. Not for someone building one cage for sure. But once you have it your stoked.Im building a race car I caged it built a bumper tire racks and am working on a rack for the truck and car trailer. They will bend any wall thickness you would need.I can bend 2" with a 2' bar on it pretty easily w .120 wall.

Well I guess is worthed, I'm planning to build something like the "Kargo Master Congo Cage" by Quadratec $289.99 plus the $329.99 for the basket. That will be @ 620.00. The good thing is having the bender/dies you can built as many as you want and do other projects as well. I have a friend who owns a 95 wrangler and knows how to weld that may be interested. I'll think about it.
Thanks

I have to agree with Gilcano; JD2 is an awsome bender. Bought one as my first bender and life has been good since. A prefer to use an angle finder vs. using the funky wire angle device that came with it. The wire can get you in the ball park but the finder is much more precise. Pics of my YJ aren't posted yet, I am a new forum member...
