I'd like to say look at that flex. But the tires just falling off. Only one lug nut holding it on. lol

My father found out I was building a jeep a while back. He comes down during the week and he's there all weekend, playing around with it. He paints all the small stuff and gets it ready to go for the weekends. It's a big help. Mom's a little mad that he's never home because he's at the garage with me. He just laughs and says she'll get over it. He's to funny.
74 years old and having a blast building a jeep with me.

You going for new fenders or heading for the junk yard?

Yours looked straight in the picture. Are you just going to feather were the clear coat coming off. Primer/sealer and paint?

The nice thing is there easy to paint. There's not much to them.

As far as painting the frame, I really liked the POR-15. I used on the bottom of the tub. I wasn't a fan how ever of having to top coat it. But there are other options that work just as well I'm sure, with no need to top coat. I used a sponge brush and it left a nice smooth finish.
New ones, I must have called a dozen places but nobody has any Wranglers. The local salvage yard can get me new aftermarket ones for $150 a side though.

Yep, there's a small ding in the hood but thats all I've found so far, I'm really just hoping for a quick and painless paint job to bring her back to life. As for the frame and the underside of the tub, I used this asphalt rattle can stuff I got at Canadian Tire on my truck, it surprisingly held up really well after a couple coats. More so just to keep the tons and tons of salt they lay on the roads here off the metal, I`m really looking forward to the truck liner inside the tub though.

Any suggestions on what kind of paint to use on the hard top?

I use DuPont. I painted the cap on my GMC Jimmy. I put a adhesion promoter on first. Added a paint flattener to the paint to take the shine out, then clear coated it. It looked great and was easy to keep clean. I don't ever plan on using my hard top, but I'll probably pant it just in case.

I need some information. How many of you are using seat covers.

Have they gotten any better over the years. The last time I had a seat covers, everytime you get in or out there falling off the seat, they didn't stay tucked in and if you moved around they would bunch up under your ass. But I may need to buy some untill I can get the seats covered.

So here are my questions.
Do they still stretch.
Do they stay in place.
Do they fit the seat tight so you don't have that loose look and start moving around when your sitting in them.

Tell me what you think.

I thought I read somewhere they didn't have a yj seat to use for a correct fit. Hopefully I'm wrong. I would rather buy from someone on this site. I did leave a post asking though.

good deal. that would be a shame if there were no yj covers. and i feel the same way about older seat covers. my altima had them and they would get stuck to me. especially in the summer after a pick up bball game or something hah.

To be honest I would be ripping them off and throwing them over the roll bar going down the highway.

That's a bit much for me. Remember this is just a weekend ride. If I put those on my seats everyone's going to think the wife threw me out. Plus they don't cover the seat.

These seats in Blue ride with Dark Grey interior just won't going to cut it.

The metallic you see on the right rear corner is how the hole jeep looks when the light hits it. Very happy with the color.

The color does look better. Juicier I'd say. Great choice.

Being normal is just crazy!

Allot of work but I like the darker blue.

Also I need to correct myself. I didn't go with metallic with this color I went with a pearl. Very Very happy with it. I only wish the camera would show the pearl. I'll get a picture in the sun light when I can. The only representation of the color that shows is that one little strip on the right rear corner were the light hits it.

The other thing I like is, it will look black at night and I like that. But I had to do allot more body work for this color.

Absolutely beautiful. You painted this time in your own shop it appears. That color came out awesome. We're getting closer. Nose in on now. I have to weld up the holes where the lower valances/steps ran under the doors and a little work on the driver's side...hopefully this week I'll get that going. I have a pile of running around/billing to do for work today, but will be working from home and am hoping to get the front bumper welded up.

What color soft top do you have or are you getting a new one to compliment the blue? Are you planning on using the hardtop on the Canada run or open air if it's warm enough (April trip right?).

I have to get a new soft top. I have nothing at the moment. The interior is going to be dark Gray and blue so I may try to find a top to match the Gray. As far as the hard top goes I'll never use it. I had it on once and hated it.

Before anyone asked. No I don't want to sell the hard top.

I need the jeep done for a wedding in July. I thought the wife said April. Guess wasn't listening. Surprise surprise. But I still need time to run it around and check for any problems before I go.

Canada is anytime this summer. Watch the weather channel for a good week and go. Put the soft top on leave it down and run a bikini top. If it rains I'll put the soft top up, after the two trips I'll pull the soft top off and up it upstairs at the garage.

When I saw you were repainting the jeep, I thought you were nuts.

I stand corrected. Looks much better now. Can't wait to see it in the sunlight.

You are good with a paint gun. That paint is so smooth.

Ok, let's see if I get this right...you are taking your wife to a wedding in a Jeep with a soft top (down...bikini top on) her dress, etc in the back (hopefully still there when you get there!)...either she's the one not listening or your wife is just about as crazy as mine!

Were just rolling everything up in a ball and throwing it behind the seat. (Although I haven't brought that up yet) Besides this isn't about the wedding. This is about riding down in the jeep. Let's get our priorities straight here. Let's not forget the open bar and we have a room right at the same hotel. (so no driving). No one will ever remember my wrinkled cloth, but they may remember the jeep parked in the lobby. You can't leave something like that parked out side. And yes my wife's one of the good one's.

Hey i know how this kinda thing works. When i found me one of those, she wanted a ring, buuuut we "needed" a Jeep. Priorities first. She stands by me and the Jeep with all her heart. Even tho we still pour all the rest of the ring money into fixing "our" Jeep.. Again.. I did however install D rings. For her..

I was using a Sata-Jet HVLP for this one. I like the way it puts down the pearl. It also does great with metallic.

Nice gun. I bought one when they first came out. Payed over $500 bucks for it. Everyone thought I was crazy. But it would lay some paint, not to mention clear coat. Mine grew legs and walked out of the garage. I never found out who took it.

Shes looking great, it was worth redoing it big time. I can't wait to see it finished!

Also I tryed a bit of buffing on the hood the other night after work and she cleaned up pretty good so I decided I'm just gonna replace the front fenders and paint the hinges and a small spot of the rear drivers quarter rather then doing the whole thing.....for now. I'm picking up the paint in the morning
