Abington, and I am also looking forward to the snow. Kinda wish I went for the plow on the Jeep but now I guess I'll just go out and play instead. Where about the South-of-Boston are you?

Got a little more work done this weekend.

Started by putting the motor back in. Before you ask about the clutch, there was no need to replace it. Flywheel and clutch looked new.

Next was the trany pan. I ran into a small snag here. The left side fit up against to the frame like it should. The right side wouldn't sit flat because of the support running threw the middle. To solve the problem I notched it out. I'll finish by welding it to the transfer case drop bracket.

Next was the trany. Nice easy job with no body in the way.

Put the rear springs in and picked up a couple of new spring perches from a local shop. Got everything cut off the 8.8 and set it into place.

I still need to figure out the angle the rear end needs to sit. I'm sure that info's on here some where.
During the week I'll get the trany cross member out and welded up. Get the fluids changed with the pan out of the way and POR-15 and paint the rear end. I also need to get the shock bracket cut off and welded onto the 8.8.

Now here's a question for you guys.
4" lift kit
1" shackle
1" body
Do you think I'll have any problems running 35X12.5X15 on a 15X10 rim with a 3.75 back spacing. OR do you think I would be better off with 33's. Most of my use will be on the street. But when I hit the woods I don't want any problems. So tell me what you think.

You could get away with it but youll have to do some slight trimming to the rear wheel wells and fron fenders. Youll clear it though.

Do you mean on the street with four people in it or just in the woods when it's flexing.

I ran almost the same setup when i switched to 35's... It's pretty tight honestly..Trimming is a must. I ended up going to a 3" body lift to fix it but hate the exposed frame look so I tore everything apart and went with a SOA, stock shackle and no body lift instead and now have mega room

I don't need 35's this year. Would I be better off with 33's or will they rub also. Sorry I'm new at this.

Did you do the soa on the lifted springs. If so what was it a 4".

I'll do the soa when I put the V8 in, then run 35's next year. No big deal. But I need the Jeep done for the two trips this year.

After all it's only money.

Yep.... not because I wanted the extra height though,,, because I had just spent over 700 bucks on these springs and was not about to take the loss.. I was very skeptical about doing it with the lifted springs but in the end I love it.. No vibrations, stability issues, death wobble, NOTHING... SYE/CV and high steer is a must though and you really need to pay close attention when setting up pinion angles....

Stick with the 33's for now, you'll be plenty happy..

Good info. I'll do the 33's.

Next year I'll do the soa with a V8 and sye/cv setup. I'll give me something to do over the winter.

I'll got to tell ya. Yours looks great. Plenty high without the body lift looks great.

Or you could use a different case and not use the SYE, bout a wash either way. I'm not a fan of chain driven tcases, plus they are worth something to someone else

That's something to consider. I have all summer to hunt around for parts.

With no rush usually comes a good deal.

Lol alright man. The worst part is, she knows nothing about Jeeps. She even pronounces Rubicon wrong sometimes BUT I asked her and she said I can put a 4 inch lift on it, 33 inch tires, bumpers, a winch, and take it off roading. Little does she know, once the lift and tires are on it, she'll be too short to get into the Jeep, therefore it will become mine lol . She can have my YJ lol.

To be honest I'm not into mine for much money, (Yet) more time than anything else. But I also got lucky when I was pulling everything apart that it wasn't all rotted.

When I'm done( which I can see may be never) I'll post every dime I spent. That will give the next guy an Idea of what to expect.

Tires and rims will probably run around $1,500.00 and I'm going to have the seats recovered. That will cost me a little.

When I get this done I'll grab the wife take a ride to Conn. I'd like to see the V8 setup. Just to see what I'm getting into before I start on mine.

Why? I love painting portion. I hate prep though if I was somewhere next door it would be fun to do it. Sucks, but I'm too far (still drooling btw )

I'm just the opposite. I like the prep and I've done enough painting that I could do with out it. Where do send the plane ticket.
