Lift size question

97 tj...want to run 33s. What size suspension lift can I get before I have to be concerned with vibes, angles, longer brake lines etc?

Basically would be happy with a bolt on kit that would hold me for a while and perform well on/off road.

4 inches is where you need a ton of $$, 2 - 2.5 you should be good to go. every jeep is different though, you may get vibes with a 2 or 2.5 inch suspension lift. Most people get 2.5 inch suspension, 1.25 inch body lift, and do a motor mount lift which should eliminate vibes and keeps your TC in place (instead of dropping it). that set up i just mentioned works for 33's. You probably want to regear if you run 33 inch tires though, especially if you have the 2.5, 4 banger engine. It'll lag like crazy. Or so I hear...

I know of suspension and body lifts. Can someone shed some light on motor mount lifts?

And it is the 2.5...any other areas of concern to watch out for (not trying to win any races so speed isn't a big concern). As long as it does well in the woods.

Body and Motor Mount Lifts

that might help you. As far as i can tell you're just replacing the mounts that hold your engine. The new mounts should lift it an inch or so which will change your angles on the drive shaft. I think it's a good idea to do the body and motor mount together.

people drive the 2.5 with 33's just fine. If you don't mind laggy power then go for it. Your rear axle, if stock will be more susceptible to breaking on the trail. Def. don't put a locker in it you'll put more stress on the already poorly equipped axle. D44 or and 8.8 ford axle will set you right for 33's. But again you technically can get away with 33's and not changing the axle or regearing. Just something to keep in mind
