Well district wanted me to leave yesterday but they overbooked the flight so I'm back to the original shipdate March 2nd. Got some more to paint. Just picked up a Edelbrock performer intake manifold, VDP centerconsole (black) and new tailgate. Courtesy of Uplifted thank you. Hopefully putting in the centerconsole tomorrow.
Ian.

Came up with an idea for the tailgate will I was sanding off very minor surface rust. Going to go and try to pick up some CJ hinges and cables to make it a drop down tailgate. Might as well while its off and I'm filling in the holes from the stock tire carrier and rubber bumpers. Ill post up some progress pics as I get it going.

Almost just crapped my pants and fainted. I was putting the small block chevy on the engine stand and didnt notice that there was a crack in the stand. Lifted the motor in the air. Bolt it to the stand. Unhook the engine hoist and the motor starts to droop down in a fast manner Luckily me and my buddy were fast enough to hook the engine hoist back up and start cranking it into the air again before it fell. Thank god for huge steel I-beams and super heavy duty come-alongs and chains in the garage.

Teaser of my current project. Painting the inner part of the dash black. Im scuffing the surface with 320 grit sand paper then rinse off real good with water. Using rustoleum paint for plastic. Ill post pics of the finish product when I'm done. Right now I have the section around the speedo and tach drying next is the middle section and passenger/glovebox section.

Good deal. I'm active duty AF myself, weather forecaster. the steady check every couple weeks will definitely speed up the build process. I'm just waiting on my tax return so I can get started on my '89 YJ.

Sweet. If my interior was half as nice as yours I'd try to paint the boring gray dash, but I figure since it normally has about a quarter inch of mud and dirt on it anyway, why bother lol

Haha trust me I've had my interior rocking the mud color and nothing but it . But I got tired of cleaning it so now I only go wheeling with the top and doors on and have my nice interior. But dash is now finished.

Next up is painting the steering column black to match, paint these chrome trim pieces black (leaving the screws on the handle chrome)

and ordering some white gaugefaces hopefully this weekend.

Super Bright LEDs - Miniature Wedge Base Bulbs

Can anyone tell me if these bulbs will work? Looking to change the dash lights to blue to match my stereo when I do the white gauge faces.

Finally got the 350 down to my house and am starting to tear into it. The heads are going to get sent out to my brother in pa. Hell port and gasket match them for me and put in new valve stem seals just to be safe. Also got the carb and spacer on the intake and cleaned up the trans. I'll go get some pictures before the days over.

Sorry I didn't get any pics I have been wayy to busy with getting this motor into shape. I promise tomorrow I'll get some pictures of it before and after. I ended up cleaning the entire block and both heads, polished the alternator, painted all the pulleys, got the water pump freshened up, and painted all the brackets. I just need to get new valve covers and the thing is going to look brand new. The insides were perfect as well.
Ian.

If I could do it over again I don't think I'd go the route I did though. I wish I sprang the 200 bucks to get the lite dtoz ones. They bolt on the stock mounting location and plug right in. That way I wouldnt have cut 2 4.5 inch holes in my body.

^^^
Which ones did you use? There are so many different options under each separate category also. I know LED's can cause hotspots but yours look to be nice and even.

And to the OP, what did you use to trim your flares? I've been wanting to do this but havent had an idea what to use to make them come out clean cut.

I just used a razorblade and score harder and harder each time. Use masking tape to know where to cut and to keep the flares looking the same. But another update. Order a complete overhaul kit for the 700r4 rebuild manual and a updated rebuild manual and a torque converter. So as soon as the stuff gets to home my brother is going to get to work on it. Ill have him send me pictures of all the goodies when they get there and pictures of the progress to post up here. Next big buy should be in a week or two. Gotta get the Radlock radiator and electric fan with a integrated shroud from novak. The guys at novak are a great help and very knowledgable I highly recommend them to anyone whos going to do this swap. Thats where I have purchased every conversion part from and I get nothing but great service and quality parts.
Ian

Alright thanks sounds great. How much is all the stuff for the swap costing? I have a chevy 305 and a turbo 400 just sitting around that now you got me thinking lol.
