I can offically say it. I have a running Chevorlet Small Block 350 in my jeep and I have the pissed off neighbors to prove it (if my neighbors read this I am sorry I was just excited as all hell and couldnt wait to start it up). Ill post a video tomorrow of it running. were going to finish up the rest of the small things and get it driving down the road tomorrow.

Finally and it was well worth it.

I was working on buttoning up a few things today so tomorrows the test drive around the block. Now just because it runs and theres a test drive means that instead of a billion things to do theres only a million things left to do.

I heard that, what kind of mufflers are you going to tame that bad boy with?

Those are nice mufflers & systems indeed. I bet it will sound mean as heck. I'm rooting for ya on the test drive going great. Always exciting to finally drive it after a long transformation like that.

From pulling the 2.5 out to getting the running 350 in did take to long was about 3 weeks of working on it for maybe 3 or 5 hours a day. It was the planning, research, saving money for random little things and building up the correct parts pile that took it two years to get done from when the idea popped in my head.

Oh I bet, & I'm sure it will be all worth it next time you have a chance to take it out wheeling. It's nice have that big power plant under the hood. Before the Jeep, I had a Chevy shortbed 4x4 with a big block in it. Talk about fun, but still wasn't as fun as my YJ is.

Back to subject, let us know how it drives

Well I had to leave home and report to the quarterdeck in Norfolk to check in from leave. And my last couple days home I was cleaning up the wires in the engine bay (working on a nice wire tuck). And I had the wrong sized tranny lines for the cooler so long story short....no test drive sadly. But I got to hear it run so it motivates me to get the rest of the stuff I need to finish it up completely. Now my little honda civic si is being put on the side lines as far as mods go.

Now that the 350 700r4 swap is coming to a close Im thinking of starting an axle build sometime this year. For now Im throwing a fresh 8.8 in there to hold me over. But heres the ideas on the axle build. Feel free on giving some ideas and all that good stuff.

Rear:
Full width 14 bolt
14 bolt shave kit
ARB locker
5.13 gears
Superior axles
Artec truss
Disk brakes

Front:
Dana 60 full width
ARB locker
5.13 gears
Superior inner and outer shafts
Artec truss
High steer kit
Disc brakes
Possible hydro assist steering...if street legal

LOL, there ya go It's the same with my wife. I plan on doing the same setup under my YJ, either that or a complete pair of 44's. Not sure yet.

But I have plans to find another YJ that is in good shape as far as the frame, body, interior. Then slap a 14 bolt in the rear & a D60 in the front, & power them with a high performance SBC I have sitting on an engine stand, paired with a Turbo 400 tranny & an Atlas II transfer case. I already have everything but the Jeep YJ itself, the Atlas II transfer case, & the D 60 front, so it will happen in the next few years hopefully.

Ok, now back to your Jeep project

If I were you Id rescue the yj you have now and throw it all into it. It feels good rescuing my yj were a rare bread and should keep them going. When i do the ome 2.5 inch lift im sanding all the rust off the frame and po15 on everything. That will save the frame and floors from rotting out. After that cut out some minor rust new metal and paint.

Oh I am One will be mine, & the other one will be my wife's (Shhh, it going to be a present that she doesn't know about yet ). If she doesn't like it, then I will have two YJ's .... woohoo. I'll just pull one on a trailer with the other one when we go wheeling.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Doing something similar to mine here soon. I'll post pics of the process in my Jeep thread.

It's more or less the story of my Jeep until now. Since I wasn't a member of WF when I started on my Jeep, I'm going to have to start a "intermediate" build thread to show everything I do from this point on. But yes, the thread in my sig is the beginning of it

Yep, I agree. Got my eye on an 8.8 out of a late model Explorer with the disk brakes at the local junkyard. Waiting on the extra funds to snag it.

I'm still alive! The navys been keeping me really busy down here in Norfolk VA, and my civic si has been getting a little to much love. As you can see....

But my brother went through the jeep to see what we needed to finish the swap up completely. Just have the final touches and this is where it gets to the point of "where did all that money go!" End of this month ill be ordering about a grand of small parts to get it back on the road and a normal SBC yj haha. Stay tuned.
