900 is what im paying for the "swap" labor. there have been many other little expenses that have incurred. with misc. parts being replaced. the original quote was $600 for the frame and $900 labor. im into it about $3grand rightnow with replacing brake lines, gas tank skid, gas tank straps, rear brake cylanders, down pipe/cat,clutch master cylander, misc nuts and bolts etc... looking forward (i think) to getting it home so i can start with my pile of mods i have here!
Wouldnt it make sense to thave the guys swapping the frame put on the body lift since they already have the frame and body seperated? Just a thought. Nice Project. It will be a whole new beast when you are done.
the body lift was installed with the swap along with jks quick disconets. i also brouight him the re control arms which he did not install.
i got the jeep back yesterday. i need to do a few things right away.
1. the fuel filler needs to be extended to compensate for the body lift (any suggestions?) im thinking i can sleeve it but not sure what to use?
2. the linkage on the transfer case needs to be adjusted slightly as it will not engage into 4l. (easy fix)
3. the new clutch master is junk. he says its not bleedable and wants to replcae with factory parts for additional 150$ over the napa one.
4. he left the hubcentric spacers on when he put my new wheels/tires on so i have to remove them and sell
then its off to the races with the rest of my parts pile!
installed the new rubicon express lower control arms today. i couldnt get the metal tab on the front uppers to stop spinning in order to remove the front bolt from the front upper control arms so i moved on. im debating returning them but hate to gt beat by a bolt!
had to cut this bolt. it was rusted inside the bushing...
old arms going to recycle...
33/12.5/15 next to 32/11.5/15
new fenders and bumpers are here. i planned to prep/paint them this weekend but im going to the OSU v/s UM game saturday.
thedirtworx custom bumpers waiting at my door when i got home today...
c&c fabricators fenders. not much to see as they are still wrapped...
well the jeep is all apart waiting for gears/lockers. we took it all apart saturday and realized that the front ring and pinion gears that were sold to me were not for a tj. new ring and pinion will be in this morning. should be back on the road tonight!
front is still apart. 1st ring and pinion was for a yj. the pinion gear shaft for a yj is about 3 inches longer than the tj. takes a couple of days to get the right parts in. go back to it. noone tells me i need a new carrier when going to the 4:56's. another delay. it should be back together with an aussie locker and 4:56's after work tomorrow.
while the jeep is sitting on the lift with the front end torn down i decided i would prep/paint the new fenders.
i was having a hard time getting the front upper control arm front bolt out while the jeep was together and sitting on the ground. on the lift and apart made installing the rubicon express adjustable control arms so much easier.
