Well ive started my bumper build. Im going to do the back bumper first, then some rocker gaurds/steps, then im going to tackle the front bumper. Rear bumper is going to have tow points, reverse lights, and I'll probably go ahead and do a tire carrier. Oh and its made of 3.5" square tubing with a 3/16" wall. I wanted to make i out of 3 or 3.5"x5" tubing, but this material was free from work. Might just sell this one when its done and make the one i really want..

A few pics of the progress so far, more to come.

Heres a few of my welds on something i had done at work that day, not the best but the only ones i have on my camera.

And heres the l.e.d reverse lights i got off ebay, 9 l.e.d each 2.5 inch dia.

Hopefully I'll get to work on it some more after work tommorow and get some more pics.

And i have one question, how has everyone else mounted there bumpers to the rear crossmember? I want make it good and stout but im trying to keep from removing the fuel tank to get access. Anyone have any tips/pics of how you did yours?

Thanks guys

look at truck stops for LED lights, usually the cheapest I've found at least in my area. Bumper looks great nice welds. I'll probably be starting my rear tire carrier this next week. Keep up the pic's.

vulcan- found them on ebay motors, they also have 2.5" and 4" lights.

Didn't get to do any work on the bumper 2day, had to work over and by the time i was done i was just ready to go home.

Thanks guys. I'll keep updating

And i just noticed in my first post i said i have 2.5" inch lights. Thats a typo, they are 2" lights.

I'll try and get some pictures of the finished product tommorow. I herculined it if anyone was wondering.

Let me know what you guys think.

Next project is gonna be bed lining the fender flares, finishing up my sub install in the console( removed stock sub and fiberglassed cut out and routed to get a 8inch sub to fit. Still got a good bit of work before thats done though.) and finding a hard top since i tore my soft top this weekend and the back window zipper needs replacing.

That is one heck of a radial drill press you have there.
As far as the bumper, I like your design, I think you used good material, good job on closing the ends and welding the d-ring brackets on, just fill in the craters at the end of the beads more so they are not concave. All in all you did a good job on the bumper.
In post #1 the two pics of weld beads concerns me as far as weld quality, I know you said they were not on the bumper..
