My Extremely Slow Build

I bought this 1997 Sport in July 2010. This is my 3rd vehicle so its more of a project vehicle. I'm taking it slow and plan to get it painted and a new engine (or low milage used) and new tranny (or low milage tranny) next summer. It came with a hard top, which I traded for a soft top. It has 164,000 miles on a 6 cyclinder engine. Has a/c but the compressor is shot so thats another project. Here it is on the day I brought it home.

Later that day I cleaned ip up and painted the flares which were gray.

Next project was Rhinolining the interior. I had to remove the carpet cause the PO left the top off in the rain and had a dog.

The canyon (or ravine ) rims were fading a little. A friend of mine had these so I took them and put them on for now. Plan on getting some Cragar Soft 8's or Pro Comp.

New OEM bumpers and painted side steps.

After a tune up and painted light bezels. I also removed the jugs off the bumper too. In the market now for a new front and rear.

My ipod died and I had an old Iphone laying around. I made a holder out of plexiglass and screwed it to the dash bezel. I ran the wires through the back of the dash to hide them and out the side onto the holder.

My next project is to put a power adaptor behind the dash and plug the iphone into that so its completely oout of site. Then have the audio out wire from the iphone (which comes out the plug) out of the ashtry as shown.

After

Rims are coming Monday. Then I think I'm going to try and fab the front bumper somehow.

Got my new rims on today. Pro Comp 98 series. 15x 8 with a 3.75 bs. Like them alot and makes my 30's look wider. I was thinking of painting the bolts on my rocker guards black but with the center caps silver I lam just leave them.

Here's the front. Love these bumpers. Lessoned learned : 2 people makes it so much easier to install.

I wanted to put the shackles in the front but have to move my plate to another location.

Thanks. Got lucky with them. A guy near by had bought them for his TJ but ended up not putting them on. As of now leaving it as it is. With the new shocks and 30's(will be upgraded to 31's when they are done) on it now I like the hieght. My 4 y/o complains its too high for him to get in after I took off the side steps. I don't go off roading with it but may do some novice trails this summer. Need to find some in Westchester or close by.

Looking good! Love the color

How do you like the shocks? I'm thinking about getting a set for mine.

They are awesome. Found them on a website ( believe it t 4wheeldrive.com) for a really good price. Their customer service was horrible but the price made up for it.

I used duplicolor spray bedliner. I have to blend it in a little more. The can I used was getting jammed up on the last coat.

I got an agate interior from a 2003. I was planning on changing the color of my tan interior this summer. Its was faded and just beat up. So I got it and put it in. After a little mod here and their its finally in. I had to use my air bag cover cause the 03 was blown. "Someone" wanted $250 for a used beat up one on the same color. I cleaned, sanded and bedlined it. I also did the radio bezel, speedo cover and the panel under the steering wheel. Found out the 03 panel does not fit the 97. Also found out a 97 bezel will not fit on a 03 dash. Now I am waiting for my switch console. Doing the steering coloum cover next and maybe the grab handle and glove box.

Jeep looks great buddy! I have a question though.... When you went to the 03 radio bezel, what were the issues? It looks great in there

I wanted to use my 97 bezel cause I already had my iPod holder and sat radio connected to it. It just didn't line up right with with the new dash.
