i still have a little more to go on the lift, not having full days hurt you when you have to rip everything out and most of the bolts came out but i did have to get the torches out for a few of them

so tell me how hard is it to paint? What are some tips that you can give me?
The reason i ask is because i would like to paint my jeep soon, and i don't want to spend thousands of dollars to get it painted... i have painted car doors before and stuff like that, but never a whole car. Any advice?

you have to sand the clear coat off then wet sand the old paint down wash it with a warm vingar solution then wipe down with a wax and grease remover let dry then tack cloth the whole jeep just make even strokes side to side it wouldnt be any different then painting a door just alot more metal to cover i would only allow the paint to dry for 10 mins or so then do your next coat it will stick alot better for you

how long will that paint job last you?
How many coats of paint and clear?
And how long did it take you from the time you started to prep. it to the finished?
Sorry for all the questions, you just seem like the right guy to ask!

this paint job paint will last a long time but i will be using it off road alot when it is done so it could last a week or for years. there is 3 coats of primer, 2 coats of primer sealer, 5 coats of paint, 2 coats of metallic clear, then 4 coats of regular clear. you can have it finished in less than a week unless you hsve body work to do it took me longer because i couldnt tie up my unlces shop and my garage is full with other toys

Ok.. Does it make a difference in how long you wait inbetween putting on the primer and the paint and to the clear? I mean let's say I put on the primer and wait a day to put on the paint. Is that ok.
I'm not sure if you would no, but how much should I spend on a new paint gun these days, my old one is trash, and paint?

You can wait between paint and primer just make sure before u paint its clean and dust free, as for paint sprayer if you don't do it for a living harbor freight has some decent sprayers just make sure u can change tips, primer is a little thinker so you need a 1.8 mm tip, top coat paint and clear coat use a 1.4 mm tip. As for how much on paint depends on your location, brand, and color

Yes you can paint in that, I would do it on a nice hot sunny day so when you are finished you can close it up and let the heat bake it

I had a gun stock painted a couple of years ago and the body shop Portfolio
told me auto paint prices are very high. I was wondering what the paint materials would cost for a job like you did on yours? And I really like the job you did!
Thanks

95 frame fix

I too ended up with a lot more frame damage then expected. I have fixed the rear end of both frame rails. Lf side has some 1/8 steel welded to original frame. RT side was total replacement with donor frame end. Now I'm on to the driver side between leafsprings. Can anyone tell me what to expect when I cut the frame rail between the rear and front leafspring brackets? I have a donor frame piece to go between the brackets. While scoping out that part I found that the frame is bad from the spring bracket to just about the shock mount. That's my other delimia. Probably end up using a combo of 1/8 steel and donor frame.
