My Low budget quick stock bumper mod!

Basically I used my stock bumper, cut the ends down angled, drilled an extra set of fog holes for future use, filled all the holes on the front, including those from the rubber pads I removed, and made end caps out of heavy duty plastic. sanded and bedlined. its not perfect, but I already had the bedliner around, had all the tools and the plastic. the only cost was $5 for JB weld which is a epoxy/liquid weld glue that I used to fill the holes and attach end caps. I used plumbers putty to hold the JB weld from running through the holes, filled them is several coats over several days. this was perfect as I only had an hour max each day to work. I think it turned out well, and looks good. allowed me to remove my tube bumpers, and hopefully sell them to help get some money towards my lift I also did the rear but I have no pics yet.

I wanted to put the fogs in the middle, and drilled holes but theres not enough room to get the nut for the bolt in between the fram and bumper. So I think I may add some tabs to itif I can get a flat head bolt under or something. I just dont like the look of the fogs out there.

how does the jb weld hold up as a filler? did you need to put any metal or anything on the backside for the jbweld to adhere to?

No, I used putty to keep it in place and then just filled over the top of the hole anda to the sides on the front. then flip over, pull the putty back(once JB is dried) and do the same to make sure its holds. then sand. if you sand it to fast or low you may get some tiny holes that need filled. it seems good as a filler. As for holding the ends on, it does alright but if it takes a direct hit on something the end will pop off Im sure. its not metal. But hey Id prefer plastic popping off over bent metal!

Thanks ! and it was a pretty easy mod. it would be better to get metal plates cut and welded, which shouldnt cost you more than 50 bucks total less if you have your own welder. if not take it to a muffler shop or someone you know. you can get a metal shop to cut you some pieces cheap. I just wanted to do it as cheap and home made/self relied as I could! saving for my lift and every buck counts haha. I can finally order tomorrow
