Newly Fabricated JK Rear Bumper

My friends are starting a fabrication company that hopes to have its warehouse secured coming up in October. The primary focus of this company is going to be Baja trucks as the co-owner has already built several Baja championship trucks, including some for Lucas Oil. They do everything from small parts to full blown custom designed suspension including control arms and coil overs. Of course we work on Jeeps also or I would not be posting here.

Without further talk here is the build write up for our new Premium JK Rear Bumper!

First we had to remove the factory stubby rear bumper

Then we have our bare rear bumper

We decided to use the factory tow hook mount as our mounting position. This means we had to duplicate the design on the passenger side

Came out pretty good if you ask me

Welded in the nuts

Example of the drilled holes (one more underneath)

Testing the assembly

Starting on the rear plate

Finally getting somewhere

In order to get the flange around the hitch and 4pin adapter we had to relocate it. I will snap a picture of this later. Not sure why I don't have one already...

Starting to weld some things up finally

Its finished! Well except for the bed liner / powder coating

Starting to get the bed liner on it

That's anice looking bumper. What thickness steel do y'all use for that. Also, do you rig for D rings?

We decided to use 3/16" for strength while keeping everything lightweight. D-rings will be available on the bumper when ordered as an upgrade. However, I wanted to keep mine as simple as possible.

What did you use to cut the steel? It looks like a grinder in one picture. But the smoothness of line looks like Cnc or a plasma

Let me know what you need to have done. I can discuss the project with the team and get back with you with a modest price. Thanks for the compliments.

We will be taking orders right now from individuals who are in need of a good quality American made bumper or fabricated items. We will not start marketing or the website until the warehouse launches. However, we will take orders until then as long as it does not get out of hand.

We made all of the cuts with a cut off wheel then came back and cleaned them up before welding the plates together. The plates are first spot welded to ensure proper fitment then small stretches of welding are done all around the bumper to help control the heat (you can see this in the photos). Once the welds are done we take extreme attention to detail to ensure they are fully rounded off. If you need more exact information on the process let me know and I can involve the fabricators in the discussion.

The warehouse will be setup with a plasma table once it launches along with other equipment.

I will send you a Private Message for this bumper. I will say the price is competitive with the market base. We are shipping from Chandler, Arizona.

I am not positive on what it weighs at the moment. I planned to get weight once the tire carrier assembly is finished. Just for a teaser the tire carrier assembly will be able to accommodate two gas cans along with a hi-lift. It will be made along the same styling as my front bumper build with the tubular structure.

Thanks for all the comments guys. It means a lot from us to have real world feedback.

If all goes according to plan we should be releasing our first JK long arms suspension system next year mid-year also. The co-owner built long travel suspensions for Baja trucks, I trust he can handle a Jeep.

Yes, we are still working on design and testing at the moment though. We like to have things built and tested on a rig for sometime before releasing photos or anything to the masses. I would like to think we will have a final version in the next month.

I just got off the phone with the big boss and pricing will be set at $300 (it was still in negotiation). If the buyer is willing to post a build article on the forum we will offer a discount. Discount can vary so please contact me when ready to order.

Thanks for all the feedback!

I forgot to mention we plan to offer two tire carrier designs for this rear bumper. One will be extravagant with all the bells and whistles while the second will be bare bones for the economy buyer on a budget.

Any military discount on the bumper?!!! I posted in the general forum but this might be good for a builder:

I would like to find an over the spare tire cargo tray/rack that could accomodate the thule snowboard rack...
i
I think this would be a pretty awesome setup, very convenient as aposed to the spare tire bike/board mount sytem, as well as the roof rack system. Could you do something like this?

Yes, that is something we could definitely fabricate. I will get with you more via private message tomorrow to go over the details.

Yes, I will be offering a military discount on all bumpers to those who served. I do not want to post a simple blanket percentage as every design will be different.

I like the price but might as well order with a tire carrier.

When do you think you'll have a non-bells and whistles carrier?

Are you still doing the front stinger bumpers? Shipping on both to 70769 please. Do you know the weight of the front stinger yet?

Maximum Carnage,
We have not yet built the economy tire carrier, however, that doesn't mean we are not willing to make one. I will be sending you a private message with more details.

cmaggi2,
Yes, we are still offering our front stinger bumper with grill guard (my personal favorite bumper). I don't recall what the bumper weighted, I will get new numbers for you in the near future. If I recall correctly it was around fifty to sixty pounds with everything. I will send you a PM regarding price.

Thanks
