Yea, I remeber you saying that in your thread. Im deff. no swapping drive shafts for this though, they cost too much. lol. I will just have them lengthened if need be. But dont forget, Im swappin a trans AND a tcase, not just the D300. The np435 is very short in itself so after being mated to the 300 it will be much shorter than my current set up.

plenty of room for a doubler now

True but after I put the 4:1 in my D300 my crawl ratio will already be 122:1 I was lookin to get somewhere in the heighborhood of 100-120:1, mission accomplished. I dont really want anything much lower than that so it would be a waste of money in my case.

the nice thing about the doubler is even with the d300 4:1 you don't have to use it, use the front t case in low and d300 in hi and you have a normal 2:1 ball park low, or you can go crazy low.

And thats all i really want is to put it in low, take my foot off the gas, and idle her over whatever I find. A 122:1 ratio is plenty for that. Thanks for that drive shaft link, Im gonna have to do that for sure. Even build one just to carry as a spare.

Lol, I dont really mind. Your doing the same thing anyway. Since Im gonna be a slow ass and not be even started before you likely finish, I will watch how it comes out for you. I put some new mirriors on my Jeep today to replace the shattered one and also got my oil changed and rear seat put back in. Nothing to further me towards this project. Im going to try and start when this semester ends so I can bring it back to school all finished up. I cant get the job done at my apartement, not enough tools/warm place to work.

Alright, this is a pretty tech question but I figure if Im lucky someone may be able to answer it for me. I have been searchin some more and I found out that the dodge 435's used a 23 spline output shaft instead of a 28 spline like the ford. This would allow the Dana 300 to be used due to its 23 spline inout shaft! Then I could build myself an adapter to go from the 435 to the 300 so it would bolt up and I wouldnt need to buy the very costly adapter kits by AA or Novak. So my question is, does anyone know if the internals can be swapped between the Ford and Dodge np435's? If the answer ends up being yes then that would mean one could use the Ford np435 with the Jeep T-176 bellhousing to adapt it to the I6 engine and swap a dodge output shaft with the 23 splines in so it mates to a np231 or D300. You would just need to build or buy the adapter plate itself. Since I figure buying just the output shaft for a dodge will be cheaper than a custom one from AA or Novak again. Long post, sorry, but if anyone knows about this please let me know.

p.s.
Hooray for the new builders corner!! I like it

i got a question is there any real variation between the 70's and 80's np435 does that matter because i have been hunting and the older np435's are half the price of the later np435's

From what I understand there is no differene betweent he years. Ford used the transmission from '66 to '92 I believe it was. The Ford 435 is the one you want because thats the one that will bolt up to the T-176/T-150 bellhousing (as Im sure you know). On a side note, some of the Dodge 435's were produced with a 4.56:1 1st gear as well. You dont want to use a dodge 435 for mroe than jsut that reason but thought Id share. I was told to look for on from a mid 70's to mid 80's F series truck. Another side note, the 4WD version that used a divorced transfer case came with the 2WD version of transmssion (square bolt pattern for adapter). Good luck scowering the junk yards!

Thanks, I can only cross my fingers that I can continue to find deals like that. Still need Dana 300, bell housing, and everything else that goes along with swapping an auto over to a manual

Doh! Guy I was gonna my trans from decided to abck out today because someone else offered him $80I dont really get it, I know $$ is tight these days but Im a man of my word. When I say something is sold to someone then it is sold to them, an extra $20 does not mean that the previous person then gets screwd over after I already made a deal with them. Anyone else feel this way or am I one of the few that has learned to honor a deal!?

I understand. If it is the dodge 435 I cant use it though. The CJ bellhousing will only mate the Ford 435 to a 4.0L. Thanks for tryin to help me out. I just hope the other guy backs out and he has to come back and offer it up to me again. Im not really mad at the guy but that was just a really lame move to pull imo.

I do a lot of 435 conversion in jeeps, as far as using the 23 spline dodge output in a for 435 trans, yes it will fit. If you put the Dodge output shaft in the Ford 435 transmission and use a ford 435 to 205 adapter you can bolt a d300 to the back of it.The ford adapter has the same circle bolt pattern as the d300 you may have to re drill and tap the front holes in the t-case if you want to rotate or flip the d300.
