Oil pan gasket help.

Hey guys,
'90 Wrangler 4.2L oil pan gasket is tough to get in. 2nd. time around trying to keep it on the pan when lifting into place is a B*&^H. Last time it pinched at the pack and did not seat in the grove up in the engine. Didn't know till oil was leaking out after refill. Anyone got a trick up their sleeve to make this easier.
Thanks in advance.
OC

Thanks to all and all good advice. It's a rubber (blue) with two raised beads all the way around even at the back where it rounds into the engine below the main seal which is where it slipped (moved) out and a leak appeared. Will also replace the main seal when doing the pan. Thanks again guys I knew by going to "fabricators" I would find some good answers.
Regards,
OC
ps....I guess you can tell I am not a mechanic just trying to help my youngest son with a Jeep I bought for him as a surprise when he comes for Christmas.
