Painted door hinges (part two)

I painted my door hinges today to match my windshield hinges I painted yesterday in my other thread. They were getting rusty and ugly, and paint was flaking, so I figured I would pretty them up to go with my color scheme. A few things left on the menu. I think it looks unique and gives it a cool accent. I will answer any questions after work tonite.

looks good! I was debating doing mine since the pain is chipping but wasnt looking forward to removing them to do it. nice to see it can be done by taping them off. I am guessing you didnt remove the windshield hinges either? I was thinking of using the black bedliner but not sure how it will hold up yet. so far so good on the mirrors. are yours textured? really like them

Looks great and good job on taping off. Question: what is the red fire alarm looking thing on your center console?

Thanks, yes taping off takes about as much time as taking them off and on, and those torx DO NOT move on my jeep...

My hinges can be seen here: Painted Windshield hinges and light mounts.

Thanks, yes they are textured, with this stuff rustoleum sells called no slip coating or something, the can is in the top pic. its kinda like bedliner, it was a good top coat to kind of blurr out the chips and rusty spots that could still be seen through.

It's a fire alarm out of an old school building, that I put there for a conversation starter :P

I used sand paper I had lying around and a screw driver to get the flaky stuff. I used the primer pictured above ^ it is a self etching primer.

if you want to unbolt them you have to get an impact grade torx bit give it a good wack with a hammer in the bolt to loosen the loctite then work it out

Thank you, and yes I know but IMO not worth going to buy the tool, I'm 17 and work about 30-40 hours a week so not a ton of money. I have access to an air wrench, but the issue is the paint is so thick in the torx that the head of the bit cant get in. I bought a brand new bit and it still wouldn't hold, and I am not a weak guy. decided it wasnt worth the hassle is all.
