Painting inside and outside of hardtop...

I'm getting ready to paint both the inside and outside of the hardtop. I was going to use Plasti Dip for the inside for a few insignificant reasons; matte finish, soft, somewhat of an insulator, and easy to do.

The smaller front two pieces are all scratched to hell on the outside...while I don't care about it, my girl wants to do something about it. What's the coating on these hardtops? Seems like it's just black paint with no clear coat. Any insight? Paint code or color maybe? I might just Plasti Dip the whole thing...?

I just painted the outside of mine with satin black fusion paint and it looks a lot better and was pretty easy to do

Is the satin more semi-gloss or matte?

It's like a matte finish, kinda in between flat and gloss.

Yeah I was thinking about that too...I imagine the two products are somewhat similar. How quick does that dry?

I dries pretty quick, I would let it set up at least for a day before you put it back on but its dry to the touch after about two hours or less. If you do it, paint the inside first and let it set for about 20 mins then flip it over and do the outside.. i set mine on some wooded blocks so i could make sure i got every spot on the outside.

I sprayed the inside with satin black Rustoleum and the outside with black awlgrip (fiberglass boat paint) also satin. I added a headliner on the upper surface and it has made the ride a little quieter with the hardtop on (now if I fix the exhaust leaks!).
