Painting the stock gray hardtop

Just bought an '11 red JKU with a gray hardtop. The two easily removable panels are scratched to hell (i.e. Touch up paint would take too long to paint). Is there are "good" way to repaint them? I don't want to do a shotty job. I want it to last. This hardtop faces harsh WI/MN winters

Is it as easy as spraying with spray paint? Do I add a satin/flat clearcoat over the freshly painted tops?

Use Bedliner, it's durable, fade resistant and very cost effective. I use Rustoluem spray on bedliner on the Rockring on my Beadlocks and it's held up extremely well. If it'll stand up to rock rash etc it should handle the hardtop application... Use THIN light coats, multiple passes and it'll come out looking great!!!

Anytime, that's why we're here. Be sure to post up some before and after pics. Clean it well, I'd wipe it down with acetone to get it good and clean! Good luck!
