Photos of Side Step Install

Hey everyone. I am a steel detailer at a fabrication shop and am thinking about making custom side steps. I just got my Wrangler a few weeks ago and am looking to do an easy custom job to see how it goes. I have some good ideas for side steps as far as cosmetically. The thing I am wondering about is the best way to mount them. That's where you come in! Aren't you excited?!?! I was wondering if some of you could post photos of your side steps. Not just how they look, but how they are actually fastened to the Jeep. Like I said above, I have some good ideas, my boss already gave me the OK, and I am ready to get something drawn up. I'm just looking to find the best way to mount the steps.

I am driving an 08 Wrangler X (2 door). Those pics would help most but please post any available.

Who knows, this could become the greatest side step install post on the internet!! Let's make it happen.

I've been hoping someone might come up with something but I'm still using the stock Safari running boards on my 08JK.

Good luck!

Jake, can you post photos of how you are mount those stocks? Mine doesn't have any on them. That in combination to me being completely new to Wranglers means I don't know jack about how these things mount. I think the hardest part of all of this is going to be the mounting locations. I honestly think that once I have a good mounting pattern figured out the custom fabrication is going to be a breeze.

Here is a concept of what I plan on doing... If I can figure out how to mount it. Any mounting pictures greatly appreciated... (This was a quick sketch. I will make the shop drawings on AutoCAD 2012 when ready.)

And I think I will actually leave a solid center strip in the center running parallel to the door, that way water/dirt/rocks don't sit in the mesh above the 3" dia. pipe. Probably will only supply holes where it actually hangs over the pipe. Maybe instead of burning out the "X" on the actual plate, cut it out of a polished piece of steel, that way it has a sort of raised face effect.
