Look what came in last night...thanks to our friend Mr. Blaine/Black Magic Brakes. These were the last brackets we needed to get that front axle mocked up under the rig! Thank you Blaine!

What welder do you guys run/work with? My buddy just got a tig finally and is learning to do Alum. from his neighbor. He did mig for a few years as a job and I have a stick so between us we can weld almost anything now We are looking at getting the JD2 bender next year and a few other things.

Well...I am not the welder I havent picked that skill up yet. Throughout this build, hopefully I can pick up some basics. All I know is that it's a Lincoln 220 MIG. Two of the guys on the team went through some bad-ass welding courses when they lived back in Illinois, so they will be doing the majority of welding for us.

Grab some scrap and start going, I mean I went from where you are to doing my whole build in a year and a half and most of that the 2 months or so before I did the really important stuff. That's a good machine then, and I am sure they will tear it up I look forward to seeing these come together.

The hardest part is taking the time to actually decide Im gonna do it Ive got a couple hand-me-down hoods as well as a hand-me-down flux core rig...so its a start I guess.

They better! Would hate for them not to...we don't need stuff falling apart out there

It's not at all that bad and if the right people tell you the right tips you can learn very fast. I don't have the steadiest hands like some guys you see. I lift a lot so when I try and do something delicate it doesn't happen, but surprising I got a ton better after some practice.

I don't think it will fall apart. I was glad my welds all held up to the hardest trails I've ever run at rausch last week nothing like a good shakedown run...

Yes sir, I'm bored I just look out the window at it now. I need to figure out while the CEL never went back off after we put the exhaust back in, even though I disco'd the batt. and I need to adjust the e brake so it works... lol. Drop the skid and check a few things and check fluids. But that's about it. I'll probably close my x member up some day too.

I'm sure your shake down runs will be very hardcore, EMC is no joke. We are discussing doing a rig for rausch some year down the road.

One of my teammates and I hit up a lot of the local businesses today. We had quite a bit of interest, but only one official "yes" so far. One of our local wrap/sticker/sign companies will be hooking us up with a full custom wrap! Not only will our rig do the job...itll look sexy while it does it!! Thanks Factory Graphx!!

Ya I am super stoked to get the wrap done...he does some really awesome work! We did give everyone we talked to a flyer. I listed our Facebook and 3 build threads on 3 different forums, so hopefully some of them actually check It out...so good idea

I may do that! I will have to look and see, but I dont think I have actually added that page...but I will!

As of today we got both the front and rear axles stripped...no gears, no shafts, no brackets. They are about ready to be thrown under the jeep so the brackets can be mocked up We also got the passenger side frame stiffener tacked into place. We need to completely weld it in until the evening when it is cooler and more tolerable

9" just needs a little more cleaning

Dana 44, just about ready

A little action shot...Brian cleaning up the front axle

Dave grinding away the undercoating so the frame stiffener can be put in

Only the best

And not really...we slacked off last weekend. The frame stiffeners are in though. (the heat out here is pretty brutal past about 10am...we really need a better fan/cooler )

This weekend we are hoping to start getting the axles in place and the jeep sitting back on its own weight. I have also been talking with Team NAXJA/Petty Cash. Part of the team and I are gonna go check out their rig(they will be pretty close by this weekend) to get some insight and tips for our rig...nothing like talking to others who have had to experience the same thing as us.

I was thinking the same thing...but once I started talking to them they seemed more than willing. Robert (RawkHaus) who posted earlier in this thread, also offered us his experience...so the help is out there and we are very appreciative!!

I am looking for a XJ for my wife to drive in the winter months. I'll be interested in your rig Geoff after KOH. It should be broken in enough for her to drive then.
