Thanks guys for being so understanding with our lack of build thread pictures. BUT I have found some and managed to get them loaded onto my comuter. These are alot of the "after cage install" mostly right after our good friends bent it up and I welded it in, literally 2 days after christmas. I will continue to hunt for more pictures for you guys. I hope you enjoy!

The Stampede is this weekend! Poor Boys are planning on leaving this evening. Is anyone planning on also being there?

We have also made a few mods since hammers...lets see how they work out!

We have purchased and installed some new bumps to hopefully help in the faster, desert sections. We went with the Daystar stinger bumps. They are designed similar to your typical pressurized bump, but still comply with all of the rules. Rather than being "charged" they are assembled with different durometers of foam in the bump to create that "progressive" bump. I do not have any pics of them installed yet, but here are a few of what they are.

Another mod...for those of you that followed our race at King of the Hammers know that our motor mounts failed which ultimately pushed the fan into the radiator. We upgraded to a set of Brown Dog Motor Mounts. The quality of these guys is awesome...a huge step from your factory motor mounts.

Lastly, we fabbed up some custom rear shackles. We did a number on the Rough Country ones and really needed something stronger. Here is a side by side comparison...think we will bend these ones?

Another one in the books for Poor Boy Racing. Saturday marked the day of the Metalcloak Stampede held in northern California near Sacramento. As mentioned earlier, we had a rough go during prelims with a flat tire and a fire caused from a rip in one of the transmission lines. We managed to easily get things fixed and ready for the main event later that day. Due to our short performance dueing prel...ims, we started in the last position. The race went on flawlessly for the first few laps. By around lap 4, we made our "first" pass putting us in 4th place. Unfortunately, this was soon followed up by two flat tires. We managed to limp into hot pits and get the tires changed. By this time, we were passed again dropping us back into 5th place which is where we ultimately finished. We had a great time and learned a lot about this unique style of racing. Stay tuned for our next race to happen at Glen Helen in mid July.

Here is a little teaser shot from prelims...you can see the fire and our flat tire

Sorry the updates have been far and few between so here it is...

WE DID IT! Poor Boy Racing had it's first official podium finish last weekend. We placed 3rd at Glen Helen in the Stock Class. What is even more exciting is that we managed to pull it off without the new mods! Hopefully that means the future will just be better.

To top things off, we found out that the Nationals for the Ultra4 Series is going to be held in Ridgecrest, CA...HOME of the Poor Boys!

Did Bailey in the white 4runner ever bump you? We watched you lead him around some and him lead you around some. Last year he was just to green and bumped us in the really rough part that you didnt see this year, due to water shortage and course change.

Good Job. It did sound a bit "tired" on the large uphill after the Glen Helen berm. Once we watched as you stopped for about a min just about at the top and I think had to find 4L. It was during qualifying I think. SO 2 XJ's on the Podium.

I didnt drive this race. I do know that we were bumping Bailey and the Blue Yota during prelims because they wouldnt open up to let us make a pass. I do not recall the guys saying bailey bumping them. We did run into a few issues. During prelims it was acting funny. Brought it back to the pits, found the crankshaft position sensor melted. Replaced it and it ran great.

Then during finals about 15 minutes or so from the end, the car was sputtering and eventually died. We couldnt get it started to keep going. One of the guys looked at it last night, and we sheared one of the motor mounts off of the block and it was resting on the distributor. We will address that before the next race....probably with the brown dog motor mounts. We have the bushing/body mounts from them already, so just need the motor side.

We are also making a trip down King today to pick up our custom built shocks The FOAs just arent cutting it for us.

The next race is in Tooele, UT August 22-23. So we've got a little work ahead of us to be ready for this one. Motor mounts...again, bump stops...again lol. Do a once over on the rig and make sure everything is still working well.

The local race is October 17-18. That means we will get about a month between races to work/fix the car, get some prerunning in and whatever else is necessary. We are excited for this race...its kind of a bittersweet deal though.

We are going to be trying something new for the next race...what do you think? With some help from Blaine with Black Magic Brakes, these guys showed up over the weekend. Thank you Blaine!

Well first off...now I think they are changing on us again I need to cruise back through my emails and verify this. It may no longer be local.

As far as bittersweet, it will be awesome having it right in our hometown. It will save on expenses and make prepping that much easier. We will have many resources being so close to home. We will also be able to do plenty of prerunning giving us an advantage. It also gives family and friends a great opportunity to come see what exactly we do.

The downside is, depending on what the race course looks like, there is potential for it to dramatically change some of our favorite trails. This could be bad...it could be good. No one knows. But we are excited regardless...especially if it does come to Ridgecrest!
