All the 8.8 welding is done except the side of the Tb mount that needs the axle on end to weld.

Those are two beads together. Didnt quite overlap them enough but just showing what you can do with a good arc machine.

Just picked up my d30 chromo shafts. I plan on running 37s on these bad boys. Probably build a beefier d30 though with the works this winter. Upgrade steering and build my hilines in the spring. No worries about breaking on 33s now though.

So, tell me sir, what all do you plan on doing to the d30 to get it ready for 37's?

I see the chromos, but what else?

Hp30 housing with cryo'd Ring/pinion, sleeved tubes. Ill built a truss and c gussets myself. Add the chromos should be good. I won't do the gears till I regear it as the 8.8 with an arb probably the next year after that. So ill be on 4.10s for a year then 4.88s. Unless I change my mind. Key is to keep failure at the u joints and drive smart.

Long term I plan on moving out of PA and doing a rig on tons after school. This will stay my DD.

Installed my tank skid today as well. Maybe 2 hours. Not bad. Bolt holes didnt want to fit super well though in the rear. Also the factory uses stupid carriage bolts and one kept spinning. So I replaced it but lost it inside the rear x member of course. So ill have some fun sound effects for a while...

Also done painting both axles. 8.8 is basically together just have to put the c clips in and finish the brakes. E brakes were annoying to reassemble. Then swap the new shafts and my Aussie over tithe d30. Install the sye. Bolt it all up and align and do my exhaust. Went with the hushpower II. I like it quiet and a nice tone. It's also very low profile.

After opening and checking out these axle shafts today I have my suspicions about whether they are really chromos. I tried to check out the casting number on the yoke but it's not very readable. could say 4340.... I'm not sure tho. Looks more like 19H9 to me.

Both axles are in. Sye is in, tcase is back inshifter is bolted back up. Not sure if it needs adjusted. Cross member is in. Rear driveshaft is in. I have slight bind at full droop but my uppers/pinion angle are not complete adjusted yet so I have some play room and should be able to remedy the binding. Not that my rig ever sees full droop other than laying up on the belly.

Most of the bolts still need torqued down, front driveshaft put on. All fluids, tires. Alignment. Exhaust. Test run after I check x member and skid clearances at bump droop and flex each side etc. not too far off.

When I unpackaged those chromoly shafts the other day I realized that they did not look like chromoly shafts... Did some research and we believe they are not. Not sure when the mix up/confusion happened. I vaguely know the two guys who have had them before me. I'm gona try and work something out with the guy I bought them from. Ill keep them as spares but don't think the agreed price was fair for shafts that aren't what they are supposed to be.

Ill have more pics when it's all done.

I feel like I really need my bigger tires now. Maybe going to drop to a 2-2.5 inch coil in the future too. I need to see the stance with the front buttoned up. Back to the garage!

Thanks man. Very close to being done. Trans dropped about 2-3 quarts of fluid during the tcase removal... showing full right now. I know the tummy tuck raised the drivetrain some so it might be tilted back. I can't start it/cycle the trans and put in N until I get my brakes on. I THINK the line will pressurize and leak from the pump. Anyways doing brakes tomorrow since my buddy didn't show up to help.

Can't wait to take a test drive, I really miss driving it. Been driving the car and sometimes the suburban and I hate how they all drive so much. Nice, but not my jeep.

Just COMPLETELY tore down my tcase, when we did the sye we put the oil pump INSIDE the case not outside... I had no idea and my buddy forgot (he was the one helping me/showing me how) so that broke and I have 4 piece of aluminum in the case, one got behind the main input gears so I had to completely tear down and get it out, put back together the right one. Really annoying job. The snap rings on the rear output shaft are terrible as well, especially with no snap ring pliers. Anyways, tcase will shift now and It's back in the jeep.

Well she's about done. Exhaust tomorrow. A few minor tweaks. Skid plate has about 1/4 inch room with front driveshaft at full droop. Arms actually hit the bracket limiting flex... Ill be fixing that soon. Anyways I will trim if I need but for now I don't. Rear sway is hitting on the side of the pinion area on pass side. It only hits at droop I think and just barely. Didnt seem to both much. I'm gona flex the rear out tomorrow and see some more. Might remove it for now. 19.5 at the belly. That will out me at 21.5 after the 37s which is pretty dang good for how low she really will be. I'm ready for a little down time. But that front axle will be coming.

Ill post better pics later. Rode around tonight and hit some rutted dirt roads and felt great. Tested out the 4wd and the 4.10s are nice but not that noticeable honestly... Speedo gear I had from before was exactly what I needed so my speedo is correct now! LSD works good I burn out both tires. Not noticeable on road. Brakes work well. I have to push my peddle further now though. I don't know why. Maybe someone can answer that.

She held up great. The axle is a tank. LSD worked great, and the full tuck is really amazing on the trails. I'll have more pics later on. And vid coming.

By the way - going off a lot of forum talk about 4.10s and the 32rh/33s being a perfect combo, I'm not so sure. I run REALLY high RPMs on the highway. like 3100 at 70. 3600 at 80... Seems a little high, and honestly my low end power almost seems reduced. I will be running these gears with 37s most likely, at least for a while, especially after seeing them on 33s.

Seems a little high, and honestly my low end power almost seems reduced. I will be running these gears with 37s most likely, at least for a while, especially after seeing them on 33s.
Personally I think 4.10's is ideal on 35's and 37's shouldn't be to big of an issue. If anything you could pick up a Rubi tcase and with 4.1 low you'd be set. Hell I'm on 4.56 with 31's and I'm running the same rpm's as you. Will keep them with 35's.

Yeah it's crazy how high the rpms are now. I liked 3.07s on the 33a. But yep ill stick with them.

Hmm, that's odd. I run about the same rpms at 70, and I have the i6/32rh/4.10 on 31s. My speedometer is nearly spot on according to GPS.
