You may have mentioned it prior to now, I just don't remember it. This build is definitely one I'm watching closely.

Are they bent, or just flat in the middle so they look bent? I can't tell from the pic.

They look like they just have flat spots. Being they are all like that I'd assume they are supposed to be that way.

Ive put on hundreds of springs in my time and have yet to see any like these....which is why I posted that question on here for people who have used OME springs before. Hell they might just be that way, just wanna make sure before I take them apart and cant send them back

I've never seen ones like that either. But I haven't done hundreds either. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. Did you give them a call?

Nah not yet, been too busy doing other stuff. I barely got them unloaded last night and the phone started ringing off the hook about people looking for parts....so naturally my night was shot after all that. Im gonna turn um upsidedown tonight and take a harder look at how they are made.

No my dad and I buy/sell/fix YJ's as a side business. We have been into jeeps since the 70's and have owned over 40 in the last 18 months. If they are worth fixing we do that, but if they arent, I cut um up and store the parts ...problem is having enough room to keep it all yanno.

Send Dempsey a PM. We just put those springs on his CJ. I can't remember if they were flat in the center or not, but I bet he does.

So I decided to finish welding up all the holes in the frame and smoothing it out before trying out the springs. I got all but two welded up last night and about 1/4 of them ground down before I ran out of beer and said screw it Im gonna try to finish it up this weekend but I have a family reunion (joy) that I have to boil shrimp for, so that might stiffle one day.

That sounds so good, I might make some tonight! I would like to get out your way sometime. I thought I might have time sometime this summer, but between working at the school and flying just about every day, my summer just got a lot busier than initially planned. It's airshow season, so my weekends are filling up rapidly with airshows I have (get) to fly to...

I fly for Kansas State University to create a presence at local airshows. K-State is in the top 5 for rated flight schools in the country. I usually fly a glass-cockpit Cessna 172, a Beechcraft Bonanza F33, a Beechcraft Baron, or a Beechcraft King Air C90 to the air shows. We've got 33 aircraft, so I just pick one and go. As for performing in the air shows, I do precision landings and some of the flour bag drops. I'm still a student working towards my CFI (certified flight instructor) rating, so I've got a ways to go before I'm good enough to REALLY perform in an air show. Those pilots have some serious skills.

Darn hijackers lol

Well Cave if you ever get the time you know your welcome!

Didnt get crap done on the jeep thanks to the family reunion and yardwork. Note to self, weedwack everytime you mow so it wont be 3 feet tall....I was plum shot after 3 hours of that crap last night. I did manage to package up a fan kit I sold to a guy in Portugal...Im worldwide baby

Tonight with any luck I will get back on the frame grinding, or I might say screw that for a bit and hang the springs. I got a curve ball from the machinist last week on my crank....she's junk so Im gonna have to buy one. That being said, it will either be a 393 or 408 windsor.
