ROFL.....you know we have this thing around the shop I forgot to tell ya about. When someone says something off color like that on accident, everyone yells "T-shirt". Meaning that whatever they said would be great on a T-shirt.

I hope to get them into a "Cut Down" tub next week.

Cut Down uses a small ceramic cylinder to blend and smooth the surface. Preparing the surface for a Steel media Burnish.

Stick with me you'll see.
this should be interesting

Ok cut down done. We are back to clean, bare aluminum. I have reduced the surface finish to 45-50 Ra.

After 75 minutes in this.

The next step is burnishing. This is done with steel media. The steel vibrating in the tub is like billions of hammers hitting the aluminum. This makes it shine. Steel media weighs 300lbs/CuFt. The machine holds 23 CuFt of media. 6900lbs of steel.

This is the pig.

Almco is a very interesting place to work. One day I am trying to finish a spoon and the next a hip implant.

spent the last couple days reading through this build. Amazing stuff, beautiful jeep. I'm going to be keeping my eye out for another jeep to sell for cheap so i can start a sweet build. My TJ is my DD so cant get crazy but if i had a second jeep it would be easy, just be making my landlord unhappy if they ever saw a torn apart vehicle in my car port lol. would be worth it. Keep up the great work btw. Makes me think, slightly, about moving back down to iowa/illinois to get cheaper parts again LOL.

I'm considering it, I've never seen them on it so I guess that will he the deciding factor. Worst part is Paul will have to do it and they will have to be cleared again. Now if I can find all the parts I can get one together

I'm gonna stripe them, it looks funny to me without it....luckily Paul is going to be town this weekend

Also should be getting a start on my bumpers this week. Had another 2.5 blow up on a jeep I was getting ready to sell, so I will also have to deal with that. Man those motors are junk...
