Quick easy rear bumper/hitch

Had to be able to pull my aluminum fishing boat. Have 4 pin plug built in bumper for boat trailer lights

Nice idea. What thickness is the metal? In any case, I'd weld some triangular gussets in between the horizontal and vertical faces of the metal, on either of the hitch ball, to discourage twisting/sagging of the horizontal part of the angle.

3" angle iron 3/8 thick, the plate the ball is bolted to is actually another piece of 3/8 that is bolted to the underside of the angle.

You have a lot of faith in a couple of bolts.

As previous poster stated, find yourself a weld shop. You should definitely have those two plates welded as a minimum, if you don't use some angle pieces. Are those bolts grade 5 or 8?

Grade 8 and 1/2" bolts. Like I said I only am pulling a light weight boat and I hauled a trailer for over 300 miles last weekend and worked great. There is 9 half inch bolts holding the angle to the Jeep. I am getting it welded together this week anyway.
