I have a buddy who uses a stick welder 90% of the time and welded the outriggers back onto a crane that fell off it's low boy and they are still holding 10 years later nothing wrong with stick. I still kinda suck with my mig but can stick weld pretty good.

I welded that thing with a stick (3/32"). I used a Miller 140 STR (110V). I'm trying to get me a MIG welder this holidays.
