Cool Rattle Can Paint Job

My buddy has somewhat convinced me that we can paint my primer gray jeep any color we want with a rattle can. He says its all about the prep and the time you take to do the job right. Only problem is I want my jeep hemi orange...Your thoughts? Im not looking for like a showroom quality paint job just a decent change of color.

well to paint the whole jeep i would think it would cost more buying 30 cans of spray paint over a pint or 2 of some paint.. but i am not sure.. if you just do one coat maybe you can get away with it being cheaper.. do you have a garage or some place out of the wind to do it in? rattle cans don't spray too far

yea i've seen people do it.. but never a base color.. a friend did his XJ's hood in flat black primer.. its held up ok in the arizona sun for about a year and half... but the orange is what i'm thinking would be hard.. probably have to do 2 coats to make it look decent.. and probably have to seal it to make it last which means lots of clear coat.. but like i said only time i've rattle canned anything it was a flat black primer

Get a gun from harbor freight (cheap, you won't use it very much) and some du Pont paint or a good automotive paint and that will hold up much better. And you can clear coat easier with it as well.

Grab a gallon of orange single stage enamel and a spray gun. It will last WAY longer than spray paint.
