regear, axles, later v8?

01 TJ, 4.0 for now on 33s I just purchased an 8.8 and debating to regear front dana 30 or keep shopping for dana 44? I was looking at 4.56 gears but in future will be doing v8 swap and possible 35s Any suggestions would be great! thx

IS the Dana 30 OK for v8 AND 35s or would the carrier & gears be wasted money down the road? Mostly backroads and mild offroad use

My opinion is the D30 would be fine for what your describing. I would leave it open or run a selectable locker. I run 35x13.50 currently. I havent had any problems and I climb everything that looks like a challenge. HP D30 front and D35 rear with yukon axles and spartan locker. I have the 8.8 for when the 35 goes but it hasnt yet... I think auto trannys are a lot easier on differentials as well.

If you found a HP D30 for a great deal it wouldnt hurt... I think then you would also have the CAD and could use a cable actuator like a selectable locker. If you wanted to run a locker... I could be totally off track here.lol
