So I was driving today and waved at a new JK....but they didn't wave back. I don't get why all of these soccer moms just stare when I wave.

I really hope there behind the boots if not ya got screwed! Just kidding I was referring to what type shafts you ended up with there's 3 different ones. Ball and claw, cv or u joint. I always swap the others for u joint style just a quick seal retainer swap and the u joint shafts drop right in. Id at least run ujoints in the rear of your set up there much stronger.

I had some of those XML's in that size a few years ago...they were harder than you know what. And as far as whoever said they were 8 ply, try load range J (18 ply). Have you tried stazworks for military tires? I think the 1400-20 or 1600-20 XL would be a good choice for your rig. I wouldn't worry about weight, its unsprung and will keep it planted

The 46's are good for the mud, they suck for anything else. at 0 PSI the dang things wont flex for crap. I run them on my mud truck.

18 ply sidewall? Im pretty sure thats total ply rating. But im not surec thus why I guestimated 8.

The XML's have a load rating of 9300 lbs each.

I have been successfully talked out of them.

I didn't see any prices on the site. I sent them an email.

I am going to wait until after SEMA to buy tires. Pirate has bunches of builders unloading tires from custom show rigs after SEMA. I will also hit up a few when I am at SEMA in October.

I think if you blasted them and primed them with some weldthru primer that you would be just fine. Roberlo copper is the best product we have used for that.

Got the Rocks home. Took longer than I thought to remove the drums. Didn't get the jackstands made or have time to blast them. Will post pics later.

Removing the drums was a task. The bolts all came out easily enough but the brake shoes just didn't want to give up. We hat to make several cuts and bend back the rear dust cover so we could pry on the drum. Once they popped they freed up and came off.

Once the drums are off we put the bearing housings back on. Eventually I will be replacing the bearings and removing the backing plate. We were going to remove the plates today but ran short of time.

The axles lightened up a lot.

Loaded up and headed home.

I have given it some thought but not sure. This is my first attempt and I am not sure how much trouble I'll run into.

I did look at the bowl and think how easy it would be to plasma cut it off and weld on a high clearance skid.

U-Joint shafts in one axle. Not sure about the other.

Nope. I keep telling Stacy I need 28 hour days. She disagrees...She thinks I would work four more hours if given.

Take a better look at the pictures. You are not breaking anything.
