No sawzall function but you can "cut".

So, the front axle is going to be passenger drop?

I can flip the axles and the the chunk. Since I don't have a drive train other than an Atlas II to picked out I will leave them for now.

You can get an Atlas dropped either way. I'd just hate to see you drop it on the incorrect side...

Nothing that hasn't been done before.

Julie mentioned that 07xman might make it over too. Would be fun.

I hope he does, I haven't wheeled with him since 7 mile rim like a year and a half ago. I see him around town on trails but he normally just comes watch me destroy my rig on billings and 21rd. Hes smart enough not to bring his jeep on those trails, he just parks his on the bypass roads and walks to the trail. They're metal munchers. Statistically that trail has cost me $450 per run in repairs/upgrades.

One Link/Panhard it is. Thanks IBB. That is simple, effective and low cost.

Pirate never fails to deliver great info.

Thanks.

The 3D modeling takes time but is well worth it. I still have to fix the Rockwell models.

I will be rebuilding the Rocks the week after the 4th of July.

And four wheel steering thus means you can turn each wheel correct ,

Four wheel steering is the back axle steers also. They can all four turn the same direction and the Jeep will dog track or the rear turns opposite and you can turn very tightly.

Rockwell axles are Top Loaders the drive input is above the axle. This also allows for pinion brakes instead of wheel brakes.
The axles are very strong so you can run crazy big rubber.

No probably a YJ with a CJ grill.

I haven't given the motor much thought yet.

Its just me talking and I'm no expert by far, but this setup concerns me. Are you gonna run a tracbar to your axles? That's going to be a RIDICULOUS amount of stress being put on that one point, with or without a trackbar. I'm not knocking your idea, i've just never seen someone run that. Ive also never seen a non tracbar setup without dual triangulation up front.

This is the closest thing ive seen to that but theres still two links in the front of it. I dont understand this setup either because as the axle would drop the control arms would pull it forward and the y link behind it would pull the axle backwards.

The design is still missing the "Tracbar" or "Panhard". That will keep the axle under the rig. I will post another pic when I get that done. Maybe today if I get the mower fixed.

IBB lead me down this path and I wasn't convinced at first. After several hours on Pirate and seeing rigs with this setup I changed my mind.

Right on. Any idea of what the benefit of doing it this way over dual triangulation? What did you search for on pirate that comes up with this setup? Youve got me pretty curious about this. Haha I just fixed our mower, good luck with that.

Lots of advantages:

1) only have to use one big joint instead of 4

2) the trailing arms protect the driveshaft and allow you to slide up and over rocks

3) one single joint wont have 3 others fighting it for alignment if the fabwork is off

4) its really really hard to crush a square box tube

5) its super easy to get this much travel....

When running Rocks and 4WS it allows for more room for pinion brakes and hydraulic steering.

I can now mount everything on the driveline side and leave the front open for a monster rock smashing skid.

Panhard is modeled. That was tricky getting the mates to work. Very cool to see the suspension work in the cad model.
