Shocks...im lost.

Can I install shocks made for a jk onto my yj? Or does it specifically have to me manufactured for a yj?

Your probably better off in the YJ forum. This is the builders forum, usually reserved for actual builds or questions concerning things more advanced than your question. Hopefully a mod will move it for you.

It depends on the length, compressed and extended. That's really it.

From what I have been told yes. A buddy of mine has a yj and he said he has seen some guys with older models using factory JK rubicon shocks because they supposedly have extra travel. I looked into it a little to see if it was worth doing to save some money on a small lift and the general feedback was no because they are a pain to install. There is some info out there aboud it.
