Stiff Suspension

Just bought a 92 Wrangler. The previous owner lifted the unit with a kit he has no knowledge of. The thing is so stiff the CD player skips when I hit the smallest bump or RR tracks. There a five leafs in the springs up front. The first three are bound together but the two smaller are not. I could remove these but does anyone think that will make a difference?
I plan on disconnecting the lower eye of the front shock in the morning and seeing if the shocks may be the cause.
Any ideas will help.
The vehicle looks great! I did lower tire pressure in the 33" x 12's to 25 PSI and it seems to have helped.

I would look into shocks before springs for a rough ride. My 3500 dually would buck like crazy on the freeway "washboard" stuff until i but some bilsteins on it. That is unloaded with springs that can hold ~5000lb of extra weight. (it does ride WAY nicer with 5K in the bed)

Sounds like an add a leaf kit to me. I could be wrong though. I have heard that those give a really stiff ride.

Could be the shackles. After a while the bolts rust into the spring and frame bushings. I figured this out when I installed my lift. The factory ride was much stiffer than after I installed the lift. (87 YJ) I had to cut all the shackle bolts off to get the springs off. A buddy of mine said that that was probably the reason that the ride was so stiff before the lift.

Greasable shackles are quite a nice upgrade for that reason. Also they keep the squeeky suspension away too.
