Swing out carrier

I'm planning on building my own carrier. I know the main piece will be 52" long. I was wondering in some one could give me some measurements for where to place the swing arm hinge and the d ring mounts etc? Also maybe some pics of the design to go with it

Thanks
Kyle

i used a trailer spindle and bearings for the pivot point. i had a friend of mine make the outer hub for the spindle and bearings at his machine shop.

Sweet thanks for the info. I'm going to do the main bumper at 55" out of 2x4x3/16. I was going to off set the hinge at 5.5" from the end. The swing arm itself I was going to make 43" long out of 2x2x1/4. With the tire post being 20" high with a piece of 2x2x1/4 coming out for the tire mount. The hinge and tire mount will be from atozfabrication.

Good luck and post some pic's when finished. The pivot point on this carrier is 20.5" from center to make room for the rear door to open fully. i made the upper carrier out of 2x2x1/8" with the center of the spare tire flange at 20" from the top of the bumper. I built it to carry a 35" tire. the small trailer spindle worked out well, no slop at all.
