The Build of ERAGON- 1995 YJ

I've had this jeep since last summer. PO had a 2.5" kit and shackes in running 32 x 11.50's
Wanting to be a bit bigger, I opted to get some bigger meats and Metalcloak fenders (front and rear).
Project should go together some what quickly.
Plans are to leave current suspension in place.
Install Metalcloaks (awaiting arrival)
Install new tires (came today!) 36x13.5 IROKS
Install 8.8 Rear (Just got)
Install new front axle (still searching for right one)
I'll Leave the D30 and D35 in for now till I blow them up...Going to re-gear the 8.8 and front for 5:13's
Here's a few pics to get this going!
Jeep as received

My new replacement tires!

Put up on jack stands and pulled tires
Got Passenger fender off to get ready for Metalcloaks...I'll do drivers side later.

Had to throw one tire on for looks and I like it!

36 x 13.5 IROKs with my 2.5 Suspension lift and lift shackles and Metalcloaks should give me pleant of clearance.
Here's a few pics..last one are the 32's next to the 36's

Here are the front Metalcloaks..just threw it on to see what it looks like. they are raw metal for now.

Had some left over 1.750" x .134" roll bar tubing from a previous project...decided to bend up a stinger!

Painted Metalcloaks...back half Moss Green Pearl (slightly off but close enough!) and the front half/flare is SILVER HAMMERTONE.

Painted front stinger/winch mount same Silver as flares

Installed with XRC8 Winch

One side mounted up less the rock sliders I still need to build

Warn fog lights mounted!

More to follow!

Kinda big 36 x 13.50's ...but got a great deal on them so I had to jump on them!!

Not a hardcore off roader yet...lots of backwoods trails and such for me.

As for the color....was mostly a wife thing...When I had the raw metal fenders on the jeep for the first time the wife liked it...then I used some black self etching primer and she didn't like it...so I tried this color combo and so far I like it!!!

So........clean......I like it. Now go chase down a dragon.

One question, about the hole in the stinger. Is it to run your winchline to or for a mount point of a snatch block?

Good question...I initially put it there thinking 'd place a d-ring there and secure winch line. My thoughts are that If I'm stuck in a mud hole somewhere I'd have easier access to the winch line "just in case".

Think it will look even better once I get the rocker/sliders built and painted the same silver. Got the winch all wired up and tested as well as the warn fog lights.

Love the fenders..just PRICEY!!!

I like the bumper as well.......Bumper is 2x4 x .187 thick rectangular tubing, Stinger and side supports is 1.750" x .134 DOM roll bar tubing I bent up. Thru bumper clevis mounts (welded front and back) with 9,500 lb Working Load Limit 47,500 lb Ultimate Strength shackles. Bumper secured to frame via (8) 1/2-20 grade 8 bolts.

Still have to design/buid a rear bumper/tire carrier..not sure if I want to go with a fold down stinger type or swing away style..Time will tell!

Built my rocker guards/ side steps today

3/16" x 6" Flat stock

1 3/4" x .134 DOM tubing

Sliced tubing with my plasma cutter and slid the flat stock into the tubing.

Made a backing plateout of some 1/4" x 2" stock

Going to weld some expanded metal inside the step..scared that someone may get their foot stuck between to hoop and the rocker and do a face plant getting out.

Still got to final weld it up and prime and paint

Nice work, Love the metalcloak fenders. What did they cost for the 4 corners? Thinking about them myself. just finishing up my build, but wished I had budgeted for the fenders, maybe later. Great build.

Looking good man! What bender do you use?

Also I really like the fold down tire carriers, I think the swing outs are way over done and too common. Can't wait to see some more stuff

For your backing plate on your siders, did you only do the sides or did you do a bottom piece and a bottom backing piece as well? I am welding mine up this week and these will be my first rockers.

$1300 shipped raw steel...too much extra for powder coating ($400!)

I had a bunch of drag racing stuff I sold...was going to build a front engine dragster, bought a ton of stuff, lost interest and sold it for cash to put into this Jeep.

I'd say over the past month I spent around $3500

Leaning towards a fold down too!!

I only did the sides..I may add one that comes off the back of the lower tube but time will tell!

Back to the Jeep!!

Thought I had some expanded metal, but I didn't
I did have some rebar and it works just fine!
Here they are getting ready for paint:

Here they are all painted up and installed:

And a few shots of the Jeep:

Nice looking Jeep! I have been looking at the metalcloak fenders. I like the flat fender metalcloaks but they are a bit pricey. How is your clearance when articulating the suspension over normal obstacles? Small dips, logs, rocks etc. Things encountered on backroads to nowhere. I have 35's, 4in rough country suspension lift and 1" shackle lift but will scrub the factory fender lip under my bushwacker fenders on these type of obstacles. Just curious. I like what you have done so far.

Are you really running a D35 in the rear with those tires? or did I read wrong?
