Well some new news. I got half of the 4" lift put on. I have to tighten a few bolts, put the new brakelines on and swap out the steering gear. I want to be done tomorrow. The back should be easier so I will probably be hung up on bleeding the brakes. So far I am thrilled about it, the Jeep looks giant now.
The front is pretty much finished, I just have to swap out the steering gears because I couldn't get either of the pitman arms off. Now I have to do the power steering resevoir because it broke while pulling the hoses off. I got the rear driveshaft unbolted, and the leafs pretty much all unbolted.
Question- When doing the 4" lift, do I have to put the t-case drop on? Is it necessary without getting a SYE?
Today was slow, but I did some stuff. I ordered the new steering reservoir, so I will be getting that tomorrow morning. What is left; the t-case drop, the brake line to the back, and all of the fluids.
I got the power steering reservoir today and lucky me, it was wrong. So tomorrow I am going to the dealership to get one from there. So the only thing I have to do is bleed the brakes and put on the reservoir.
Getting close to being warm enough to redo the whole body; doing each side in one piece, from behind the fenders to the back corner of the tub. For sure doing the whole inside of the tub this year. Only thing I did lately was the front tj flares installed. Sorry no pic.
Got pics of something that is a new project, but its nothing that I wanted to do. Unfortunatly my shock tower tore right off of the frame, I was kind of irritated that it happened which is out of the norm becasue I usually don't care. Funny thing is, I thought I just hit a big pothole, but my tail end just lifted up off the ground like 5 inches. So now I have to fix that and see if I have a shock that will work.
I noticed u put tj flares on did u have to trim the openings so they would fit right I'm looking at tj flares for my prodject this week I have to get something cuz after this coming weekend ill be ready for paint
live to off road off road to live
I did the fronts so far, I had to trim them a little bit. I cut through the inner fender, so the outer sheet metal and the internal support have to be welded back together. I gained around an inch at the back of the wheel well and maybe 1/2 inch at the top in places.
Thanks, and I finally got a recent pic. Only because I put the rear TJ flares on. I hope the 32's that will be here on the 29th won't look dumb with such a huge opening in the rear.
Once I am all done with moving, I will be redoing the back of the tub. I have to do it now because the main support finall rusted through on the back corner; So the next update will be a big one.
A giant to do list for the next part of the project:
Inside floor above the tank has to be completly done
the sides of the inside will be done /back of the tub/
2x3x 3/16 support for the back
all new sheet metal for the back
shock tower/mount for the broken off piece
paint and install CJ tailgate
then round LED tail lights.
make a new rear bumper out of 2x4x0.25
repair rust hole in the frame in the back pass. wheel well area
new rims (same as I have) and mount the MT/R's
