tire carrier

Hi all. I'm sure you get this question all the time but here goes, I'm planning to build a rear tire carrier (fold out) and am wondering what to use for a post bearing and for the latch

Most of the tire carriers I've built for customers and friends I've ended up using rolled solid steel pipe that I've out in a lathe and had lips machined on the ends, then just throw some small trailer bearings and races with it. As for the latch, a 1/2 inch spring latch has alway done well for me

Its quite strong. Very sweet design we came up with too. Obviously more than just a tire rack tho.

Yes, yes it is. Any one looking for some sweet front or rear bumpers like this one, let me know and I'll get you in touch with the right people.
