Got the Rubi D44 all in- quick spec, boxed lower control arm mounts, lock right, G-2 shafts, new hub assemblies. One of the axle shafts was missing a cotter pin hole….. I tried to drill one, and it worked…. The Rusty’s steering is hitting the stock diff cover, time for Currie.
The engine is running well again :2thumbsup:
I am re-using my old front drive shaft as a temp/ trail back up rear. This is how I cut it down. I used a section that was cut out as a sleeve. I will be welding it after I post this.
Installed my third banks header….. In their defense, the header design changes with every one. I hope this is the last…
Started up the cage upgrades. Used some PSC parts and 1.75x.120 DOM. It is all just tacked in at this point. I still have to beef up the rear before pulling and painting the cage. I do not have a bender or notcher but I am happy so far.
Thanks for the kind words. I built this with Mike (MCE Mike) last winter and then drove it to Moab from Seattle WA, for EJS 2010. I came to the conclusion the TJ was getting to small for my family and looked at selling it to get a LJ. I had 15K into the TJ and could only get about 8K to 10K for it, so I would take a minimum of a 5K loss. The LJ’s I looked at were about 15K to 18K, which would mean I would have to come up with an added 5K to 8K (if Tj sold for 10K). Well, I did not have that kind of money so I decided to cut it and make what I wanted with my budget. The stretch portion of the build cost me 2K, including top and Mike and I did all the labor. The total on the build was about 5K to 6K. I was also able to sell the TJ hard top for 1K, soft top for $250, front D30 $150, 33’s and wheels for $600.
I would love to add a stroker and make a long arm but it will probably not happen for a long time. The jeep is working well and is fitting my needs. Also, my cash is being spent on abs plastic and flat fender molds.
