I go back through this again and again to see that great "garage" ingenuity. I'm proud to know that MCE spends its time on Wranglerforum too!

Thanks for the complements and support! The extra room really comes in handy, more than I thought it would. I also like the ATs, they are surprising me in the snow and ice.

Increadible build. You got mad skills man. I'm going to look for you in Moab during Safari Week this year. We'll be down the 17th - 20th.
That skid plate is crazy. Thanks for posting all the great pics.

I wish i had seen this earlier AEV makes a truck conversion kit that parts of would have made your life a lot easier like the frame extenders.

Build update: Well the jeep has been working well and the added room is great for the family. I have wheeled it very hard and also driven it hard for a bit over a year now. I have also driven it to and from Moab for the 2010 and 2011 EJSs (18 hours of drive time one way from Bothell WA). I just started the fix and fine tune portion of the build.
Areas that need work:
1- Front lock right is making my steering box work very hard on rock. My box (number 2 this year) is bad after Moab. I will be replacing box and installing a 2 low kit in t-case.
2- Need to add on board air. Will use a sanden with the grease mod, and an old broken compressor and just keep it simple.
3- Rear tire carrier is hitting on hill climes and when dropping off stuff. The rear corner of jeep is cracking and pulling the pinch welds apart. To fix I will be making a new tire carrier and welding up the sheet metal. I also will be building a bracket to tie the corner into the sheet medal corner past the pinch weld seem that failed.
4- I will be painting it again, the grey and rear of tub will be repainted gloss black.
5- The 35 ATs are holding their own. They work great on rock and snow.
6- The rear axle shafts need to updated.

That thing looks like it does well in its environment! What I really like about it is its got alot of "home brew" pieces on it, its simple, clean and performs and does what you need it to do without breaking down!

You also show that on rocks AT's are pretty good! Btw, do you have any write ups or the bracket you used and parts list for the Sanden mod. I'd love to do the same, and yours is very clean!

Thanks

My OBA recipe-
Junk yard sanden (AC pump) for a stock 98 tj with clutch $65. The bracket to bolt it in is there you just need 4 bolts.
Factory fan belt for 98 TJ with AC.
Used a welder ( some ” 90’s and plat) and made a simple 1/4" point of connection on the sanden.
Got a bad compressor for a finish nail gun from friend. Use the tank, pressure switch (on at 70, off at 100psi), blow off, and drain. I kept them all on the tank for install.
Added a home made oil (grease in my case) remover, check, and a pressure gauge (fluid filled so needle does not bounce).
Toggle in cab to power the relay for clutch.
I got about $100 into the set up.

The pinch weld was pulling apart from being flexed by the tire carrier pushing in as the tire would hit the ground on hill climes. I welded up the seam at the edge of the tail gate and then made a bracket to tie the PSC corner into the wheel well after the pinch welds. I will be making a new tire carrier very soon. I buttered (like laying tile) the brackets with seam sealer to help prevent corrosion.

Mock up tire location.

Used all the old parts off the old.

Built a landing pad for the wheel. I can now set the wheel on it, and then spin it until the studs line up.

Still need to add CB antenna mount, back up lights, and some gussets, but for now it will come off and I will work on paint prep.
