The DeFenders are on...well the font ones at least. These are the 3" flare with the extended side plates PS offers as well.

I could not be happier with the quality of these fenders...they are extremely well built.

I like the square tube instead of the typical round tube. Good choice.

The final side armor template came back from the laser cutters.

And here is why the tailgate was off earlier. CJ-7 drop down tailgate conversion in progress. Can't have a truck without a proper tailgate!

Starting tomorrow I'm out of school till Dec 2nd...gonna hammer the rest of this project out.

Roll bar, install side armor, finish body work details, fab new front bumper, Line-x, disassemble and paint, reassemble and install interior, lights, etc...too easy right?

Did I mention a NOV 30th deadline to make it to RBD at Morris Mtn, AL?!

Here are a few pics to give you an idea of the cuts made to install the PS DeFenders. Hole in the side was just to access bolts.

So alot of debate went into trying to figure out the roll bar situation. With the top on, a full roll hoop set vertical with two down bars in the bed would look good. However, the factory main hoop or "B" pillar is leaned back so with the top off this setup would look awkward with 2 roll bars; one leaned back, one vertical. Then we decided to just run two rear supports off the factory "B" pillar. We fabbed up the bars and tack welded them into place. The bar will by cut for the top and two roll bar body pass through plates will sandwich the top. That way the rear bars will be unbolted, top removed and rear bars reinstalled. Ok, on the the only part that matters...pics!

Looking really good so far!! But looking at that side profile shot. You need to do a tummy tuck.

TJspeed you nailed it! When my rear driveshaft goes in I will take out the awful rough country transfer case skid drop which will help out for the time being. I am holding off on the full tummy tuck until I install my new drivetrain so I can do it once and do it right.

Yes it was Mango Tango...loved the color but hated having to say Mango Tango when people asked what the color was called!

Yes it will be removable. The rear bars will unbolt, remove top, reinstall rear bars. About a 30 min process.

Well the deadline for the build has been pushed back...guess thats how these things go!

The CAD drawings for the side armor are taking some tweaking to get all the bolt holes cut in them correctly. Additionally, the lack of shop space and time have slowed progress.

But never fear...here are a few pics. Remember the ratty Sahara seats?

[/URL]

Got them back from the upholstery shop. Should look perfect with the military tan paint!
