Now your just showing off d90king! Looks like good times.

Got the rear axle truss on. Using the the Artec 8.8 swap truss you can swap the JK 44 into a TJ with a few mods.

Make sure and use spacers to ensure the correct gap for the drivers control arm and trac bar mounts.

The 8.8 uses unequal length axle tubes on each side of the diff. The JK 44 tubes are equal length so the truss must be adjusted. Measure the correct placement of the trac bar mount from the factory TJ axle center line and adjust as necessary. We ended up offsetting the entire truss to the passenger side to get proper placement.

Coil spring plates are 40" on center. Canted them 2 degrees forward to help with coil spring correction. Note the gap between the truss and spring plate on the passenger side.

And heres a glamorshot…

Picked up a factory e locker for the front 44 since my housing had a busted one.

Got the rear built…all new everything!

Should finish the front build this week then get both axles installed this weekend. Just in time for Jeep Beach!

Better shot of the rear. Just have to finish the hard brake line and paint it.

Front is going together. Since my front housing was bare I started from scratch. These are the outers off the 2wd front axle I bought.

Sleeves, gussets, and Alloy balljoints.

Gotta have a case spreader to pull the chunk on the JK Rubicon front 44.

Ordered frame and axle trac bar brackets & joints for the custom setup. Spring mounts up front still have to be cut off and relocated. JK is 3.5" wider mounting points than TJ. Shock mounts are not integrated in the spring mounts on a JK like the TJ so they will stay in place. The JK shock mounts are 1" wider than TJ so 1/2" per side difference should be acceptable.

Got the front flares painted to match the rears.

And by popular demand, the wheels will be tan. No time before Jeep Beach to properly dismount, prep, and powder coat…so Plastidip it is!

Its going to be a long weekend!

Looking good man! Makes me excited to start some more major stuff this summer. Keep it up. I feel like your color is what a flat version of desert sand pearlcoat would look like.

All the previous hard work on the rear axle paid off…it bolted in like it was meant to be there.

The front was a different animal. Many folks who claim to have installed a JK front in a TJ say the control arm mounts are close enough and it requires work on the trac bar and drag link. This might actually be the case if you just wanted to get it installed. However, after we pinned it in using this method it was obvious everything was going to be in a bind. On to plan B…

Custom upper mounts, arms, joints, trac bar mount, spring plates, etc…

Back under its own weight with JK Dana 44s, OME springs, and factory JK Rubicon shocks.

Finally got around to painting the wheels…index cards to mask them off saves a ton of time!

Always last minute…loaded up at 2 AM to head to Jeep Beach.

Rotopax and hi-lift mounted in the bed.

Set up at the Alpha Vinyl booth in the speedway. Give them a Google if you need any decals for you Jeep!

Mine looks tiny next to SBC Offroads other build…stretched & supercharged 2 door JK on Dana 60s and 40s.

Smittybilt has a new expedition line coming out…rooftop tent is pretty damn nice and MSRP is right at $800.

My friend bought an ARB tent and I'll be using it till my Smittybilt arrives in 90 days.

You've done an amazing job on this build! Looks great! Post some pics from Jeep Beach for those of us that aren't lucky enough to be down there this year.

I didn't really get any good pics of the events. I will mention that its is definitely worth a trip if you enjoy a relaxing environment and beach nightlife. Lots of social time and minimal ride time…but a drive down the beach is definitely cool.

The vendors always have a few big parties…here is the Poison Spyder event…I'm def in the mix!

I'll hold off on most of the pics I have of things we did on the trip…

Looking good! How much did you pay for your front factory locker? Im in the market for one for my JKD44 build and it looks like the prices range from $400-700 used.

Got mine off Craigslist for $200…I searched for about a year and found a deal. anything over $500 you should just buy an OX locker.

Life was good until my PS pump took a dump on me…

After I got it fixed I had a bad bottom end knock?!

Guess its time for the new drive train…and to change the title of the thread!
Going with a 5.2 Magnum and auto trans so I can keep it emissions legal.

Lots to come in the next 2 weeks!

5.2 fell in my lap and I like the idea of easily keeping my factory gauges, fuel pump, accessories, act. Definitely not as much power as a 5.3 but I like the idea of a Mopar engine in it!

Hate to see you drop the diesel, but can't wait to see the 5.2 swap. I like to see people take the road less traveled. Seems most folks (where I'm from) will stuff a Chev V8 in anything cause they say its easier. Which this truck looks like it is all about the road less traveled.

Getting the 4 banger out…

The engine compartment was the last untouched area on the Jeep…still blue and dirty!

Got the engine cleaned.

Advanced Adapters Mopar mounts.

Test fitting…

Lots of cleaning and getting ready for paint.

No more slave cylinder...

46RH auto will get a Transgo shift reprogrammer kit and big cooler.
