The ax5 is designed forthe 2.5 engine and would be too weak behind the 4.0 so don't bother with that. As far as the other two their both plenty strong enough however I don't know if there is any length or mount differences between the nv and ax15. If there is you would also have to replace the trans mount and have a longer/shorter driveshaft fitted. Depending on what's wrong with the current one I'd have it rebuilt or if that's not possible replace with another nv since it's a direct fit with no other modifications needed.

Depending on what needs replaced or repaired with the current trans you're looking at at least a few hundred bucks. Now if it's a total loss or if the case is broken you're gonna have to replace it. A brand new one is gonna run you about 2k more or less depending on where you get it. It's the most expensive way but at least you know it's in new condition and most new ones will come with a warranty of some sort as long as it is professionally installed. You could also get a used or rebuilt one for much less however they usually come with little to no warranty coverage and unless you know what kind of a life it lived or who rebuilt it it's a bit of a gamble. If this is the route you decide to go do as much research as possible and shop with caution. There's few things worse than paying to do the same repair twice. If the jeep is still drivable take it to a good trans shop near you and have them give it a look they can provide you with better info as to how to go about fixing it. Best of luck and post back what you decide and how it goes.

Should look at the 6-speed NSG370 as well out of 05-06. Has a granny 1st of 4.46
