wrangler roof rack system questions

I was wondering if anyone ever built a full roof rack system out of EMT conduit and doesn't mind to share the pearls of wisdom. It looks doable and more or less sturdy if done with 1" conduit but I just wanted to see what others have done before starting this project. thanks in advance.

I've seen it done on a XJ with mostly 1/2" EMT it came out ok but you had to be sure to remove all the coating or the welds looked very poor.

I am building a light bar to go on my windshield. I am using 3/4 and it is sturdy. I am going to make a roof rack my self with the 1 or 1 1/2 soon. However I don't know how to wield so I am using the joints they sell, the ones with the screws. Hope this helps.
