XJ to mYJ

Hello all, this is my first post. Sorry if I haven't posted in the correct forum. I am still learning the etiquette of this site. I have a 1987 xj with an amc 242 and an automatic trans. I also have a 95 wrangler with the amc 150 and an ax15 trans. I want to take the 242 and drop it into the wrangler. I am just not sure if it will sync to the ax15 trans or if there will be any wiring issues. Has anyone done this before?

The original trans that would have been if the yj would be the ax5, the 150 (2.5) only came with it. But yes a ax15 swap is pretty common, search 4.2 ax15 swap and there should be some threads. Idk all the details or Id help more

The np242 off the an auto trans has a 21 spline input shaft, the AX15 out put shaft is a 23 spline. There for you cant couple the np242 to an AX-15. There might be some way you can swap the input shafts from the np231 to a np242 but im not sure.
